Hi everyone,

two questions on my mind:

1. any ideas what type of medical exams are being done for this CR-1/IR-1 process? Are they looking for certain pre-conditions or just STD or respiratory diseases?

2. anyone else used a different ASC location for picture and fingerprints? or it must be done at RIO's ASC?

Thanks,

A

1. "Its purpose is to screen for certain medical conditions relevant to U.S. immigration law. The panel physician is not required to examine you for any conditions except those the U.S. Public Health Service specifies for U.S. immigration purposes, nor is the physician required to provide you with diagnosis or treatment even though other matters related to your health might be discovered."

Maybe you can find your info here:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-10-prepare-for-the-interview/medical-examination-faqs.html

2. I don´t even know what these abbreviations mean :)

3. Pls fill out your timeline, for more accurate answers.

Currently the only ASC that's available for pictures and fingerprints is the ASC (CASV) in Rio. When you finally get your interview, you'll have to register you appointment one the Yatri system (AIS website). The ASC in SP, Brasilia etc will show up but won't have any available times and dates, meaning you'll have to select Rio. As far as when to go its a bit confusing because the Yatri system gives dates when to go, but the Interview Letters being sent out from the Consulate are saying to go to the ASC 1hr before your interview to get your picture and finger prints taken.

Hello friends,

The Rio consulate website was updated:

Urgent information for visa applicants regarding novel coronavirus:

The Immigrant Visa Unit in the U.S. Consulate General has resumed limited mission-critical operations.  At this time, we are scheduling cases for spouses and children of U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs).  We are scheduling those cases in priority date order beginning with cases that were initially scheduled in March 2020.  We are making every effort to schedule your case as soon as possible.  Please do not contact the Immigrant Visa Unit to inquire about scheduling your interview.  The staff will contact you directly.

https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/

Seeing that the previous message was more like "we don´t know when we´ll resume services" - this is an upgrade.

Hello everyone.

Do you think that the embassy in Rio is working in K1 visa?

I think they´re only doing expedited K1s. And now, per their message, they´re doing going to start working on "scheduling cases for spouses and children of U.S. citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs)."

Hello friends,

Does anyone have any updates from the RDJ consulate? I was so hopeful a few weeks ago, thinking that the interviews were moving along... but some weeks have passed and I have not seen the increase I was hoping for.

Additionally, my expedite request got denied. Anyone know where they are up to in DQ date? Is it still February 2020?

Thanks so much!

My husband is doing the spousal visa (not emergency or urgent) and he has a March 2020 DQ date, so I can keep you guys posted on when/if we get scheduled. That might help all of you gauge how much longer until your DQ dates. We haven't heard anything so far, but hopefully we will soon! I'll keep you guys posted since this forum has been helping me so much. Thanks for starting it, Hilde!

Just to confirm what I had posted earlier about the CASV appointment. The consulate replied to my email and said this about the emails saying you must go to the CASV 1 hour before your appointment,  "The one hour before option is sort of a general option if you don't find an option in the system that can better fit your needs."

Fica a dica kkkk

Hi,

It may be helpful:

1. I found this link that helped me to know about this medical examination (Test cost may changed)  https://docero.com.br/doc/vevn18 ( translation: https://translate.google.com.br/?hl=pt-BR&sl=en&tl=pt&op=translate)

2.  If you ask about IV - "Note: Immigrant visas interviews in Brazil are conducted only at the Consulate in Rio de Janeiro." ( And you have to do biometrics and photo at RIO's ASC prior 1hour of your interview date. (You might be required to register it on Yatri System once you get an email from US Consulate with directions of your interview date and time )

About the medical exam fees, I can confirm that the "Consulta" has gone up about 80 reais. I had left my wife money last year that was the exact total, and now that we have to pay it went up about 80 reais.

Usually the applicant get an updated information about it since it follows US official table: https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/medical-examination-instructions/ "The doctor’s fee is paid directly by the applicant. It cannot exceed the amount listed in our schedule of fees. Laboratory fees are also paid by the applicant." See the last one:

Costs to be paid at the Medical Offices (per person):

Description Value (US$)
Medical examination: $180.00
Lab tests (if necessary): Varies
Vaccinations (if necessary): Varies
DNA test (if necessary):  $360,00

Source: https://br.usembassy.gov/visas/schedule-of-fees/ Feb,2021.

In Rio de Janeiro/Brazil , it was converted USD>BRL currency and charged around R$850 , CASH only (March, 2021) for an IR Immigrant Visa
