Hi everyone, we were disappointed to see today that our case remains at the NVC despite Georgia now accepting K1 visas for processing. I called the NVC and the rep said they are waiting for the embassy in Georgia to “request the documents” before they will send.

Does anybody have a recommendation for what we can do? We don’t want our case to keep getting delayed, as you can imagine it’s quite disheartening.

We are on the same situation. Checked our case and still AT NVC status. Been there for almost 6months now but nothing changed. Abu dhabi UAE embassy started receiving cases and scheduling interviews also. A little bit disappointed as well because saw some of my friends who got noa2 last july and august are already in TRANSIT. But all we can do now is wait. Tried calling NVC for an update and on how is their sequence of sending cases but told us the same reason.

The embassy is responsible in releasing the case files NOT NVC. From your description it looks to me as though the embassy is asking for the first in files to be first to be sent out. You're in line, your turn is upcoming. Patience.

So you mean the embassy is the one requesting for the NVC which files or cases they are going to send for each shipping dates? Our noa2 was march 26 and i've seen in one of our groups here in uae for k1 applicants that those with noa2 on july and august where now in transit. Im still confused how come they skip those who got noa2 first.

Yes, the embassy is requesting case files from NVC.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

I am waiting for interview as well at US embassy Abu Dhabi: IR1 category. Any idea if they are scheduling cancelled appointments first or sending out new IL as well? Is there any other group that has more news on visa scheduling in Abu Dhabi embassy?

You're in the K-1 visa application thread and you are an IR-1. I'd recommend that you find your country/regional sub-forum for better answers. Go to the blue ribbon above, select "forums" then scroll about 3/4 of the page down and select the region that most represents where your country is located.  While you are looking for your sub-forum do note that there is a section dedicated to IR-1's and you should see it also on that same drop-down menu. You should be a part of both conversations. Don't forget that the embassy's webpage is more accurate page that broadcast current updated status reports. There you have it. Hi-yo, SIL-VER... a-wayyyyyyyyy!

NOA2 validation date is almost expire, I email embassy to extend it but they said my case still at NVC. What does it mean? what should I do next?

A fiancé visa must be issued within four months from the date of approval of the fiancé petition by USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services). If your appointment is later then the validity date, bring a signed and dated letter from your U.S. fiancé(e) stating that you both remain legally free to marry and that you intend to get married within 90 days of your arrival. E-mail or copies are acceptable.

9 FAM 41.81 N6.2 Validity of a K-1 Petition
(CT:VISA-2165; 08-21-2014)

An approved K-1 visa petition is valid for a period of four months from the date of USCIS action and may be revalidated by the consular officer any number of times for additional periods of four months from the date of revalidation, provided the officer concludes that the petitioner and the beneficiary remain legally free to marry and continue to intend to marry each other within 90 days after the beneficiary's admission into the United States.

Hey everyone just wondering if something has gone amiss with my case,

Is anyone else still waiting for a welcome letter from the nvc
We received our Noa2 in June and I called the NVC August 4th obtaining the case number but my fiancée still hasn’t received the welcome letter from the NVC. With the current climate has this been a normal/similar wait time for others here or should I be chasing it up ASAP?

Thank you legends!

"Welcome Letters" are not sent till the case has shipped to the embassy.

@Greenbaum once again coming through with the advice and telling it as it is, thank’s mate. With how much you help people and deal with silly questions you should be getting paid for this 😂.

So one last silly question, so that means my case won’t be shipped until my embassy has reopened and started conducting interviews again?

That's correct. Until the embassy directs NVC to ship their cases nothing is going to move until that happens. We don't know yet if the embassy will take everyone at once and sort it out on their end or if they will ask for cases that were first in then those cases are the first to ship. It's still a mystery. It makes me laugh and grudge that people think that calling or emailing will move their cases along any faster. My seven years of experience has taught me the following:

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates

My fiance mailed off the forms required from P3 (including the I-134 from me) and it has been delivered to the consulate in Auckland. Now we are back to the waiting game on when his appointment will be scheduled.  It's honestly so nerve-wracking.
