My petition seems to be in administrative processing at NVC and has been there since June 16. One day after it arrived at the NVC. When I put my case number in the tracker it says "At NVC". Is this a normal step in the process or is something wrong? I can't find information anywhere on administrative processing at the NVC.

If you received a case number and haven’t been asked for any follow up information you should be ok. All cases are in “administrative processing” until they leave the NVC. You can call the NVC and ask a representative as well.

Hello, we received NOA 1 on 30/Jan.; NOA 2 on 8/June, but no any further information from NVC.

My fiance called both USCIS and NVC.  USCIS said they did send the mail, but NVC said they don't have the record.  Our NOA expire on 4/Oct.

We are really upset about the situation, Could anyone give us any suggestions?

Thank you and bless you all !

I was just looking through the PDF but it looked like the only thing I could find was information about adminstrative processing in regards to the embassy stage. This is scary! I should have no red flags and I filled out everything perfectly

Every case record goes into a state that is called "administrative processing". It's a term for a file that is waiting to be further processed but hasn't been touched. When you see dates changing at any time this will indicate that your case is being "touched" or worked on. One never knows what it is they are doing but no one can touch a case without it being recorded, hence the date change but not the status change. It is normal to be in AP when your record is sitting at NVC. Once it has been assigned a case number and is shipped to your embassy, you'll see the status change to "in transit". Once it arrives at your embassy it will change to "received". Everything is normal. You do not need to call NVC for an opinion of what is happening with your case. When it is moving along you will see the dates change. I hope this clarifies your concern.

The process is the same for many years. Once you receive the NOA2 your record goes to NVC. NVC assigns a case number then it is shipped on the schedule shipping date to the embassies. Since embassies are now just starting to open their doors once again, your file should move. NO ONE with any certainty can tell you when that will happen.

I discuss many of these points and what to do in the PDF on the first page of this thread. Please get a copy and go through the different help points. I'm sure it will answer many of your questions.

When you join a thread it's always prudent for you to read the thread from the beginning to see what others are discussing what answers they have received. With that education you will be better equipped to migrate through the visa process. Good luck and stay engaged.

Need some guidance. I Don’t know if this is possible... I read here  and there about it, but nothing concrete.

Romania has not start yet K1 visas, however is not in the Shengen area and affected by the travel ban ( I hope I’m not wrong ) . I am Romanian citizen, living in Italy. If Romania will start processing k1 sooner than Italy, I am allowed to transfer my case from NVC to Romanian US Embassy?  If yes, I will have to contact NVC and redo the DS-160? And also how long it would take to transfer it?

You must be a resident of the country in which the embassy is located to interview at that location. Transferring case files can be as little as 30 days some stretch to 90 days. "your mileage may vary"

@Greenbaum I really appreciate the PDF you created for us K-1 hopefuls.  I was able to use your DHL tracking hack and now I know that our case is expected to be delivered to the consulate by September 10th.  I wouldn't have known about this hack with your guide so thanks!

Did NVC send you an email letting you know that they shipped your case to the Embassy?

Hi everyone, does anybody know if K1 approvals automatically being extended for another three months due to the pandemic or do we still need to apply for an extension?

Hey everyone, I just got my nvc case number. I also asked if I should proceed to complete the DS-160 form, but I was told I should wait until they open up the Embassies and then I would receive an email from them. So all I got now is my NVC case number and waiting 🤔

It's extremely likely the petition validity (note that an I-129F petition approval is not a K1 approval; you don't get a K1 approval until after the interview) will be automatically extended for another four months, and I believe some consulates have explicitly said this, but I don't know if a general policy has been announced.

In almost all cases pre-covid, if you were unable to schedule an interview within four months due to interviews not being available, the petition validity period was automatically extended with no action required on the part of the petitioner or beneficiary.

If it's been over a year since your petition was approved, circumstances may be different.

A fiancé visa must be issued within four months from the date of approval of the fiancé petition by USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services). If your appointment is later then the validity date, bring a signed and dated letter from your U.S. fiancé(e) stating that you both remain legally free to marry and that you intend to get married within 90 days of your arrival. E-mail or copies are acceptable.

9 FAM 41.81 N6.2 Validity of a K-1 Petition
(CT:VISA-2165; 08-21-2014)

An approved K-1 visa petition is valid for a period of four months from the date of USCIS action and may be revalidated by the consular officer any number of times for additional periods of four months from the date of revalidation, provided the officer concludes that the petitioner and the beneficiary remain legally free to marry and continue to intend to marry each other within 90 days after the beneficiary's admission into the United States.

Most who are getting interview dates or have completed an interview have had no problems with a NOA2 extension. The NOA2 is good for one years. I see you not having a problem.

There isn't a reason for not completing the DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. Go ahead and complete and be sure to print off the confirmation page (with barcode) for your interview.

BTW, who told you to wait? Curious.
