I just asked my fianceé about our case number from the nvc, still yet to receive it, got our NOA2 on the 10th/June/2020.

Shouldn't be to much longer should it?
Also can I actually contact the NVC even though I'm the beneficiary?
(I know this answer has been asked and answered before but too I'm lazy to search haha)

Q1 - You're nearer than you think to receiving your number. A phone call would be good about now.

Q2 - Yes, the beneficiary can call

Received my NVC case number yesterday. I called around 1pm and had to wait about 40 minutes to speak with someone. Based on my case number, it was assigned on 7/14. My NOA2 was 6/9. NVC stated that the file is being held until the embassy begins accepting applications. Are we able to complete the DS-160 and P3 at this time, or should we wait for the file to be sent to the embassy?

Hi all- I'm trying to get ahead a bit and gathering the information I need for the I-134 in advance. I'll be visiting my fiance in Sept so I want to bring the paperwork to him then for him to submit at the interview (it's at the interview, correct? I don't need to mail it anywhere right?).

My question is can I use past tax returns printed from TurboTax? Or do I need something more formal and official? And if so where do I get it.

Thanks all and good luck!

Here is the maximum amount of information required to meet any embassies requirements. Let try and address your questions individual.

Q1- I-134, Affidavit of Support is needed at the interview. The beneficiary will bring this with them to present "if asked". If not asked don't volunteer.

Q2 - No mailing of the I-134, Affidavit of Support is required if you are meeting in person with your beneficiary prior to the interview.

Q3 - It depends on the embassy. If you get tax transcripts you can't go wrong. If you try and use the 1040 you may receive a 221(g) Request for Evidence (RFE).

Q4 - See below for where you will get the TT from the IRS.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT: You must submit any evidence which will show that you and members of your family who will accompany you are not likely to become public charges while in the United States. Visa petitioner (US Citizen) will have to complete form I-134. If the petitioner does not qualify as a sponsor, a Joint-Sponsor should ALSO be presented (any US Citizen living in the US or Legal Permanent Resident), who will also have to complete form I-134. Both, the Sponsor (Petitioner) as well as the Joint-Sponsor, will have to present last year's income tax return transcripts. W2 form and proof of current and sustainable income (e.g. letter of employment on letterhead including salary and start date, most recent salary receipts, bank accounts, the value of properties, etc.). You may download the I-134 affidavit at https://www.uscis.gov/i-134

Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here:

Use this link to determine the income levels needed https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p

Also, the new requirement from the embassies is to complete the DS-5540. https://eforms.state.gov/Forms/ds5540.PDF

That is addressed in the PDF found on the first page first post. It's there to answer questions like this one because it's been asked a million times. Now 1,000,001.

Ok thanks friend! So to be prepared I should probably get info together for the I-134 and the DS-5540?

Sorry, last question. My fiance has a job secured with my fathers company when he comes, but should we put the employment down if he can't work when he first comes here? That doesn't really even make sense.

You are answering your own question.

He is not eligible to legally work till he receives his EAD once you file the I-485. So, I would leave out any reference to that idea.

Oh thank goodness I finally received a case number after my NOA 2 on June 5th. It was interesting because when I called this morning ~11.30pm Eastern Time they told me to call back "in a few minutes" and I called near midnight and they gave me my case number!

However, I need some help, I logged into the account with my case number + invoice number, and it tells me that I need a DS160. I have just filled out and submitted the DS160 just prior, I'm assuming it takes a while to be registered in the system? Have anyone managed to pay any fees yet?

"K visas are nonimmigrant visas that assist spouses or future spouses of American citizens in entering the United States. As with all nonimmigrant visa applicants, a DS-160 must be filled out in order for a consular section to process the case."

Your early in checking your status. Usually takes 24 to 48 hours. Should be something there now.  Yes, some embassies have opened the scheduling of interviews but NOT all embassies have. Check your embassy's website for further details.

Hi everyone! Excited to join this forum with all the support but also a bit anxious with the current state of affairs regarding processing.

NOA1: January 31, 2020

NOA2: June 11, 2020

I am planning on calling the NVC today to ask for my case number.

As a side note, my beneficiary completed a DS-160 in May of 2019 when she was applying (and subsequently approved) for her B2 visa. I am assuming that she will need to resubmit a new DS160 for our current K1 application?

Thank you for posting the PDF on the first page, that has been extremely helpful in answering some of our questions.

I also wanted to mention that I sent the NVC an inquiry via email to get my case number last week. I followed the instructions exactly as in Tip 19 in the PDF and sent them an email directly.

A few days later, I received this response: "In order to ensure your private information is protected, NVC will only respond to inquiries received through the Public Inquiry Form at https://nvc.state.gov/inquiry. If you submitted your inquiry directly to this email address, please resubmit at https://nvc.state.gov/inquiry in order to receive a response.

I was a bit surprised by this, but I went ahead and followed their instructions and submitted by inquiry using their form, and received this response 5 days later: "This petition is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. You will be notified with further instructions when the processing is complete."

This is the reason I will try to call the NVC to try to receive my case number over the phone. Hope this information is able to help.

How did you complete DS160 without nvc case number?
