Hi everyone,

NOA 2: June 5th

NVC Case number assigned: July 10th

I (beneficiary) called today, July 13th.

Immigrant visa line: (603) 3340700

Called from UK at 12pm GMT (8am ET). 15 min wait for an agent.

Agent informed me that they had received our case, gave me the case number/invoice ID.

As anticipated, told me that our case will not be moving on to the London embassy at this time due to the virus.

Hope this helps and all the best!

Since I got the case number, today I start filling the form ds160 and I am confused on how to answer on this question.

Do they want to know the specific reason of divorce or it’s enough what I wrote?

I would think they're looking for something like "Divorce decree" with some information about where and when that was ordered (name of court & date).   Other ways a marriage could end: annulment or death.

How it ended is the same as why it ended. Your reply should be short and to the point. Adding a long story only can set you up for additional interrogation.

Did you get a letter, email or call?

If you don't want to wait for your case number, then call NVC. Follow the directions in the PDF found on the first page of this thread in the first post.

Called. No letters yet.

You may know this already but for others the letter is not sent until the case has been shipped out to the embassies.

So if it's possible to travel with staying out of Schengen 15 days traveling into the US with a K1, why they don't work on K1 cases as soon as the embassies are open?

Just as an idea, how about doing a process the court  with a group of people who are in the same situation?  Nobody knows how long this virus stays and if and when there will be a  vaccine.  We all know how painful the separation especially in this time is.

Our life  time is running.

Since there is a large backlog of cases it's my opinion and it seems to be holding true with those few embassies that are now opening, they will process CR-1's first as they are family members. K-1's are not. Whatever your feeling is about the subject the embassy is going to proceed on what best fits their operation and capabilities. So does a CR-1 or a K-1 seem to be more important. My bet is always on the CR-1 as they are already married, and a K-1 is still trying this on for size.

Good Morning All!

Just called NVC using their Immigrant Visa line 603-334-0700 @ 8:00am est. (The non immigrant line 603-334-0888 goes straight to an automated message due to the suspension of routine visas)

NOA2: June 12th

NVC received my case: July 8th

No wait at all. I pressed the corresponding numbers with the operator and was directed to an agent immediately.

I was provided my Case # & Invoice #. The agent informed me my fiancé case will not be shipped until my embassy reopens. She  confirmed my current email address and said I will be notified when my case leaves for the embassy. Then she directed me to nvc.state.gov/k1 & said to follow the instructions there.

Been to that website 100 times already lol but it doesn’t hurt to check for new information.

Best wishes everyone!

I’m hoping for the best but I don’t see the embassies or at least my embassy (Nigeria) reopening for k1’s anytime soon. Hopefully end of August/September. But I’m remaining hopeful and patient!
