Let me explain how an RFE will affect your visa processing.

 

Technically speaking, an RFE is a written request for more information and documentation that USCIS mails out if they believe that they don’t yet have enough evidence to approve or deny a given application. An RFE normally is a minor item and should not be looked at like it's a denial but an opportunity for you to complete your application. USCIS would not send out an RFE if they were going to deny your application. It's just a step that they must take and once they have your information and it meets their approval then you should be seeing your NOA2.

 

There are many varying degrees of RFE's. Some as simple as not "ticking" off a question. Others forgot the fiancé(e) letter and then others who met on a website and now need to prove that it wasn't a marriage arrangement website.

 

If you get an RFE, read over very carefully as you only have one chance to reply accurately without causing undue harm. Once you know FROM THE RFE what it is set out to correct and to include "everything" they are asking for. Then reread the RFE to ensure you are compliant. Make copies of everything for your record and send back using their instructions which are contained within the RFE. If the RFE requires a signature, PLEASE don't forget this. Include the original RFE letter along with a cover letter explaining what you are including in your reply. Like a checklist format. Once received at USCIS your case will begin adjudication where the agent had left off. No one can tell you how long it will take so be patient.

Hello!

I filed our I-129F on 5 June, it was received on 8 June and my check was cashed on 16 June. I deployed right after I mailed the packet so I’m not able to receive any confirmation texts but my parents are getting my mail and are on the look out for the NOA1. I’m excited that we finally took this step, nervous that I’m out of country and can’t respond as quickly to any issues that pop up, but it’s still one step closer. I’m going to try to see if I can get it expedited but with everything going on I’m not sure how that’ll go. 🤞🏻

Judging by the earlier posts it seems i should have gotten word by now. I mailed mine on june 9th and have not gotten word about anything nor has my check been cashed.

Have you checked to see if they have received it by your tracking number with your carrier? It can run 2-4 weeks sometimes.

 

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.
