JUNE 2020 I-129F K-1 FILERS

For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and for you to be with others experiencing various aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. We are all here to learn together. Good luck and have patience, because this is a lengthy process currently running 5-6 months from filing date to your NOA2 approval.

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/K1_Process_V11.pdf

Also, since your application will go through several background checks this is a primer on what goes on with the background process.

I know it really sucks, but the best way to get through this is to lower your expectations and try not to compare your timeline to anyone else's. Don't forget that the people here on Visa Journey represent a tiny percentage of all the petitions the CSC must work through! When someone gets to your file, you'll hear from them. Stay busy, talk a lot with your fiancé about non-visa stuff, don't forget to hang out with your friends, take up a new hobby, go to a sporting event, and your time will come! Good luck

Explanation why is it taking so long.

Welcome to the thread. Hang in there as others will be joining the group soon as new petitions are submitted. If you have any questions about the process you can leave them here and either I or someone else will help answer them. Good luck and stay engaged.

So I made the mistake of not activating the credit card I submitted on the G-1450 form.  I got a push notification from my bank that the $535.00 USCIS charge was declined for this reason (very frustrating since I had a recurring charge go through just fine yesterday >_<).  I understand that my filing will be rejected based on lack of payment.  Since I live in Thailand, I expect it to take a minimum of 3 weeks for my application to be returned to me.  In an effort to expedite the process, should I just reprint and refile immediately?  Or must I wait for the rejection notice and my original submission to be returned to me?

You can do either, wait or resubmit.

When I refile, do I need to include information about my first application attempt being rejected due to lack of payment?  I am not sure if this would be something to include for Part 1 Additional Information, Questions 43-47.

Neither. Again, you can say nothing, or you can note it in an addendum cover letter as a RE: Resubmittal due to Credit Card issues or something like that. One or two sentences will suffice.

They don't have a lot of time to read endless copy so remember to keep your replies whether it's with USCIS or the embassy. Have you heard the saying before "Lose lips sink ships"? It's true here and will be at the embassy. Or as Joe Friday used to say, "just the facts mam".

Packet is all assembled! Giving a few days to step away, review, make sure everything is complete and then sending this thing off on Monday 6/15!!! Scanned the whole thing and it is 102 pages. It's taken months to assemble all of the pieces and get everything ready. AHHH! So excited to move into "wait forever until hearing anything" land!

Your packet should not be more than twenty pages at best. First, use the guide checklist to ensure you have everything assembled properly and that you have not missed anything. Second, further down on that guide page you will run across a statement that propagates "the more the merrier" recommendation. If you were to pole most of the veteran's here on VJ you would hear a consciences that the "kitchen sink" approach is not needed.  Many applications have been approved with a less than more approach. If you were applying from a high fraud country, then I would advise differently but you are not. If there is anything that is missing that the IO needs, they will issue an RFE for those documents. In the end, it's your application so do what you feel comfortable with. Good luck and stay engaged.

Thanks.. the bulk of the additional papers are my own criminal history documents. So those, unfortunately, have to be submitted. If I removed the original arrest/court documents, and the TOS from the site we met on, it would be down to about 20-25 pages.
