Hello Friends,

 

My partner and I are working on applying for a B-2 Visa so she can come for a few months to visit here. She is from Kenya, but is currently working in Qatar. Is it better to apply from Qatar now since she is there or does she need to wait to go back to Kenya to apply since her passport is from Kenya. Thanks for the help.

She should apply from wherever she currently resides. They would be able to best determine any ties to return home.

 

Hope for the best but expect a denial. The B visa refusal rate for Kenyans is very, very high (https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Non-Immigrant-Statistics/RefusalRates/FY19.pdf).

She will be issued the visa or not based upon her merits alone (nothing from you is needed or helpful).

She should apply from where she resides at the time of her application. However the fact that she is able to spend “a few months” on a visit by itself illustrates that she doesn’t have a good/stable job to return to, which is one of the few things a single person has to show as a tie to return home after visiting. So I tend to agree it may not be easy for her to get a visa.
