Every one with a elementary school understanding of health should know that vitamin C is essential to health and that it is not found in meat or dairy. It cannot by synthesized in our body.  There are other nutients in plants that meat cannot provide.

Protein is readily available in plant products, calcium can be difficult to get but it can be done.

One can thrive without meat, not so plants outside a bottle of supplements

.

Vitamin C, since I'm literally allergic to everything but meat. I worried about vitamin deficiencies.

Vitamin deficiencies happen to people regardless of if they eat meat and veg all their lives. It's the most common go-to question each round of doctors ask me, and I hate to disappoint them that I'm not a vegan but still have all the signs. Yes it can happen to vegans and it's becoming more frequent these days apparently, but it's happening to other people too. A lot of persons are deficient in something and won't ever know unless they get it checked or their body craps out. How about we just enjoy the freedom to eat what we'd like? 😉

Personally I really hate tuna and am not much of a fish person at all.

Purely out of interest, what is your view on dairy products? I have a good friend who has been vegetarian since a teenager, is now married to a vegetarian and raising her children vegetarian. But boy do they eat a lot of dairy products: cheese, yoghurt, cream-based sauces, and so on. They feel this is perfectly ok and in live with their beliefs. Looking at things from a “cruelty” perspective, I think forcing cows to become pregnant with very small gaps between pregnancies, and then removing the young calves from them before they are ready to be weaned ranks quite highly on the scale. I’m not a vegetarian and I absolutely love cheese in almost every shape and fashion. Probably eat too much if it. But it does cause me to shudder sometimes when I think of what goes on behind the scenes.

Was wondering how you see it?

Why, next you'll be asking whether "I see what I eat" is the same as "I eat what I see"! :P

I have been vegetarian for many years.  I have decided it is time to go vegan.  For the exact reason you mentioned.  It is indeed cruelty and I can not support that.   I had no trouble becoming vegetarian.  I always thought meat was gross except when I was a kid and I loved bacon.  But becoming vegan is a little harder.  I don't like milk at all.  I don't eat yogurt and have rarely eaten ice cream.  But I do enjoy cheese.  However, I have decided to give all of that up and try to lead a cruelty-free life.  I am very involved in animal rights and try to keep up with what is going on so I can right letters and emails and make phone calls to the appropriate people to protest an issue.  I am also signed up to appear at any protests we have going on in this area.  The main organization that I work with is PETA.  I am also a supporter of the ASPCA.  I financially donate to many animal rescue organizations.  So you can see, this subject is my passion.

Thank you for sharing. It is for exactly those reasons that my brother and his daughter are now vegan. I think it’s laudable to have such passion that you are prepared to give up things you enjoy very much. I’m too weak-willed for that, I suppose.
