Hello! I am not finding any info regarding my particular concerns so throwing this out there.

I am currently pregnant, due July 18 (found out on our wedding day in November!). Filed AOS first week of December, got my EAD/AP first week of March. My status has been showing ready to be scheduled for an interview since February 9th. I was actually expecting an interview date to arrive any day when USCIS closed their offices in March. Now that they're due to open in June I'm scared my interview will be next in line to be scheduled and now fall very close to my due date. I'm a high risk pregnancy and likely to be hospitalized and/or get an emergency C-section any time after 36 weeks.

I'm wondering if a request to postpone until after my due date is possible before the interview date is even issued? Or do I have to wait and get the notice in the mail before making a request? Would pregnancy and labour risk be enough reason to ask to reschedule if I'm not in the hospital yet? Ideally I would be able to ask them to only schedule me after August 1st to avoid any rescheduling altogether. I just have no idea if I can make such a request. Any thoughts?

Don't worry about that now. There's no way to know where you are in the line. It can take 1 day to get an interview date, it can take more than one year. Interview notices usually come 4 to 6 weeks before the interview date.

You can look for timelines for your local office here on VJ to have an estimate of how long it takes from filing to interview.

I don't think you can request for the interview to take place after a date you want. You will have the option to reschedule though after receiving the letter.

I’m pretty sure that you can’t reschedule an interview which hasn’t been scheduled. But I’ve seen the past, people have posted that for a valid reason (medical or other emergency) they do reschedule and the rescheduling could be done over the phone. Since you have a pretty valid reason, I think they should accommodate you easily.

also another thing, some have received notice of the green card being issued without an interview. So you might be in the same boat.

All you can do is wait until your interview is scheduled, and then if your child decides to make an appearance on that day or close enough before or after that attending on the scheduled date doesn't work, request rescheduling (which shouldn't be a problem).

Barring a scheduled C-section, you don't know exactly when your child actually will be born either (ours was born a week before his due date last month, though that was well after Anastasia's interview; she was only a few months along then).

I saw this and am so hoping this happens for us too. Although I've only seen it happen for people who had an interview that was already scheduled and got cancelled, no one yet who was still waiting on an interview date.

Thank you! This is our first baby and I've received news that we are high risk for some potentially life threatening complications for both baby and I, add a pandemic scenario and looming green card interview and I'm just about maxed out on stress I can handle right now! I never thought I would actually hope to have my green card delayed but here we are lol.
