I have to get a new translation but it also says on NVC that the document only needs a translation if it's not English or the language of the country where the consulate is. Therefore I shouldn't need a translation. That's why I just uploaded the same one because I thought they didn't like it how I added the translation to the birth certificate into one PDF file. That was before I knew I had a message and could read it.

you don't have to translate it, that is if its in Spanish.

Its very annoying.

everything expires every 6 months (birth certificates, marriage certificates, police clearance). I hope they don't keep it this way but they have been doing it since 2010. Good thing is you can request them online and print it.

Do not send in online printed birth certificates, they will reject those too. My wife's births certificate and our marriage certificate just got rejected  because of that. The birth certificate needs the seal from the RENAP agency they were issued from.

No they didn't and they got rejected. Sucks, I would have been DQ by now. The seal I'm showing is the one it didn't have. I replaced it already tho. Both , marriage and birth certificates.

I will have to upload a scanned version and pick up the original once I'm actually in Managua.

did you take  a look at the specific document guidelines for Nicaragua?

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Nicaragua.html

Birth Certificates

Available. Birth certificates must be obtained from the Central Registry in Managua. In cases where a birth was never registered, a Civil Judge may, after a lawyer has executed the proper documents and testimony taken from witnesses, issue a birth certificate which is inscribed in the Civil Registry. If an applicant was registered more than one year after the date of birth, an "onlyness" certificate of birth (certificado unico o constancia unica de nacimiento) will be required. If there has been a rectification or recognition registered, the applicant will also need to provide a literal birth certificate, which lists all of the changes made to the registration of birth. In cases in which the relationship or identity of the applicant is in doubt, a baptism certificate may be requested as secondary evidence. Such a certificate must prove that the record of birth was entered in the record book for the year in which the baptism took place; the document should be authenticated by the Chancery of the Catholic Church in Managua, Nicaragua. A Supletoria of baptism is not acceptable.

Do not freak out. You  know once you click submit, it is done. You will not be able to delete it,  however you can upload the new docs by clicking the “Add a Document” link below Optional Documents. Be sure you write a note of explanation such as: wrong birth certificate uploaded in error please replace. I did that with one of my kid birth certificate, it was accepted. Make sure you submit the birth certificate along with the English translation. Per NVC. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that the:

  • Translation is accurate, and
  • Translator is competent to translate."

 Good luck.

Hi there. Do i have to merge the original birth certificate and the translated birth certificate in one PDF file or upload these two separately? Thank you

If I were you I would submit the translation. It’s best to be proactive about it so that you can avoid an RFE.

Totally agree with you. That's why i'm researching tips and information about NVC stage as early as I can to avoid stupid RFEs.

I'm not sure if I did it correctly since my submission was rejected but I scanned both documents to have it in one PDF file. If I remember correctly, I was able to only one document for the birth certificate.

Small update. Birth certificate got rejected again, as expected. I should get the new one from the central registry in Managua on June 5th. I'll have my husband's friend scan it to send to me and he'll send it over to the boy to hold on to until the interview.

Well VJ is a great source. I learned a lot from reading and following others posts. I was able to get DQ without any RFEs.

I am processing my husband immigration documents. His birth certificate was also rejected for the 3rd time. So just make sure its translate correctly always double check the translated document. On one pdf file I submitted the english translation first second the Nicaraguan birth certificate make sure the sealed is clear enough and third for a backup a apostille make sure is scan in color and pdf file. Finally I received an email from nvc and it was approved. Good luck!

I'm waiting for my case to be DQ but all my documents were already accepted, hopefully I can help you a bit.

As far as I know the birth certificate has to be issued by the Central Registry in Managua (Registro central de las personas). This is really important and it's on the Managua US Embassy list of document requirements with the corresponding instructions on how and where to get each document. A lot of people get birth certificates from their local Alcaldia (mayor's office) and this is not the correct Issuing Authority.

Another important aspect of the birth certificates is the literal version, which you ONLY need if you've made corrections to your birth certificate in the past. I know about this because I corrected my mother's name a few years back. Therefore, I needed both the short(regular) version & the literal version, and you can get both at the Central Registry in Managua.

As for the translation, we were also unsure about it, but we were advised by an immigration lawyer to add the translation.

Honestly, I went completely overkill with every possible document. I got translations for everything, I even apostilled my civil documents(UNNECESSARY but I needed to feel safe LOL). Since I haven't had my interview I'm not sure about this one, but I also got my Police report from both my local town police and the Central Police(where INTERPOL is) in Managua because I moved from my hometown to a different department and I read on a thread here that someone under the same circumstances as me was put under AP after the interview until he provided the report from the central police. Bear in mind I'm just speculating on this one.

Hope this helps.

  • 3 weeks later...

So I got the birth certificate from the Central Registry in Managua and now I got a message that it was rejected. I cannot read the messages on the CEAC website because they aren't loading. I don't know what they could ask for now. I never did a correction on the birth certificate it should be the way it was originally. I don't know how to solve this. I can't even read the message and I don't know what to submit. My guess would be a translation because I didn't have that then but I have it now and I can submit it but I first need to see the message first. This is so frustrating.

Have you tried calling? I doubt is the translation if the document is in Spanish.  I didn't translate mine and they got approved.
