CENOMAR

Hi @Greenbaum

I would like to ask if it is okay to put 'MARRIAGE' as purpose for the request of CENOMAR.

Also, how long is the validity of CENOMAR?

I requested last year and included it our K1 fiance visa application. I used 'MARRIAGE' as the purpose, should I use the same?

Thank you! :)

Marriage or Visa is fine.

Embassy doesn't like the CENOMAR or NBI to be more than 6 mos. old.

Thank you! :)

I hope this helps. Where will your interview take place?

NBI is valid up to 12 months,  this is clearly noted on the required documents page on Manila's website

For the longest time it was six months. When did it change to twelve?

For as long as I have been involved with the PI.  The six months has become an urban legend that continues to be perpetuated.  My wife presented an NBI that was 11 months old.

YMMV

@Greenbaum thanks for your reply. so helpful as always. :)

I am not sure yet where I will be interviewed. Hopefully here in Australia. I already paid the MRV fee just waiting for the interview appointment. The problem is, my visa will expire in July. So I don't know if I can request for an appointment.

I'll wait until end of the month and see how it goes before I email the embassy.

You don't have a visa to expire in July. I'm assuming you have only your NOA2 which you are using that date for your assumption that it expires in July. Which is not necessarily true. Your NOA2 is good for one year and can be extended by the embassy in four month increments to the one-year date. Then it at that time it's expired and you will need to start from the beginning.

Sorry @Greenbaum, what I meant was my Australian visa, as I currently have a temporary visa at the moment. I am a Filipino.

Thank you! :)

It seems to me that you have two choices to make. One, you call the embassy and see if you can get an expedited emergency interview. I am not sure what the embassy's criteria is for your situation, but it's worth a try. Second, is to return to the Philippines and process your visa there. Of course, keep in mind that if you move forward with the transfer you could face an extended time for your record to be sent to the embassy. I can't opine as to your situation because you haven't posted that much information on your situation i.e. where your physical case is, why is July and important date, why you are in Australia and so on. These are all factors that need to be considered to give a satisfactory answer that will lead you to the answer that you will choose for your situation. You don't have a timeline so it's hard to answer your questions.

NBI has always been valid for 12 months.  It is the embassy that would tend to request a new NBI if it were older that 6 months, and that seemed to have changed over a year ago.

NOA2 is valid for 4 months.  The embassy can extend the validity of the petition for up to one year.   Last time some contacted the embassy regarding extending the petition validity they were instructed that the petitioner must email the embassy to request the extension.   Not sure the embassy is still automatically extending the petitions as those instructions occurred right before the lockdown.
