Well, we'll bring it back to the question posed by the study: why would people find a woman wearing makeup more trustworthy than one not wearing any at all? I'm not talking about your reaction, but why do you think the study came up with the results that it did?

And here's another question: would people find a man wearing minimal makeup (say, tinted moisturizer and a brow gel, not a full face of slap) more or less trustworthy?

Makeup or lack thereof does not influence my trust level. I don't trust people with briefcases though.

I'll tell my caveman that he isn't allowed to steal my coconut shower oil from now on because he's letting the team down. :(

check and see if he is whacking it against a stone to open it, he may think it's a real coconut.

I must not be a trustworthy person at all.  I don't wear any makeup.  I don't like it.  My husband likes me just fine without it.  But boy was it a point of contention when I was growing up and becoming a teenager and young adult.  My mom believed you did not leave the house unless you were fully made up.  She would yell at me "you are NOT going out looking like that".  That drove her crazy but she eventually decided I was going to do what I was going to do.

Right -- it should be a choice a woman can make for herself. My mom rarely wears much of any makeup and is very practical and no nonsense. She's baffled sometimes how she ended up with two ultra-femme daughters who can't get enough of beauty products, but she never encouraged nor discouraged us to wear it. Her attitude was basically: if you want to look that ridiculous, go for it, it's 100% on you.

None to rarely ever wear makeup here. Don't care what people think of me or if they want to be weird and associate it with trust. If they do must be some sort of psychological problem on their part.

As a makeup-wearer/enthusiast, the message I get is: if you wear it, you're somehow trying too hard, or it's a character flaw. But at the same time, looking actually natural is somehow "messy" (which I guess means untrustworthy for the purposes of this study). I think the choice to wear or not to wear is a personal but not a moral one, and says nothing about your character for better or worse.

As a rosacea sufferer, good skincare does a lot when I have a flare up, but it only goes so far. Looking like you've been hitting the bottle all day isn't easy to explain in a way that people will leave you alone, so concealer and powder are really important to me to avoid intrusive questions. Like, "Is it always like that?" (no) or "Does that hurt?" (sometimes) or "Wow, you really should take care of that" (I am, thanks). My fiance has eczema on his hands but I have never heard anyone ask him about it, even when he has a bad flare up. He gets the free pass, I don't.

Because of the way the respondents replied. :bonk:  :P

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

It shouldn't matter what men think of what women do with their faces, or what other women think either, in my opinion. It's creative expression

I'm sure it is for some women. I know I started wearing makeup for the sole purpose of looking better and concealing imperfections, I don't really have any artistic inclinations. Now it's turned into a habit and I've noticed lipstick is better at protecting my lips than lipbalm. I apply way less makeup than I used to but I feel "naked" without any. I like getting all dolled up for an event such as a wedding or going out clubbing or even fancy date night, unfortunately not many opportunities for that now.

I've also noticed how many men claim they like "natural" women and then they proceed to only approach women that are anything but natural. What they mean is that they don't like caked up makeup. Btw, there are some men that demand their woman wear makeup. Those exist, too.

Men are free to also wear makeup if they want to.

Just need to make up the bit not covered by the mask?

You know, I still put on lipstick or lipgloss even though I'm wearing a mask when I go outside and I always ask myself: why? But I wear a lip tint or at least a balm at home because otherwise I look washed out. My natural lip tone is kind of pale and I can look like I'm undead at times if I don't brighten the tone.
