Nexus Renewal

Hello all! Hope everyone is doing well. My Nexus card is going to be expiring in August and I wanted to renew it online. Thing is I don't live anywhere near an enrollment center for Nexas (moved from Canada to Texas when I immigrated here to be with my wife), has anyone renewed their Nexas card after moving to the US? Did you have to go in for an interview?

I don't travel much now but even the 1-3 times a year the Nexas/TSA Pre benefits are great. So hoping to keep the card. for the trips back to Canada and in the US.

Thanks!

At the moment they aren't doing interviews. I haven't done what you have asked yet but it does say people who renew before they cancel get an automatic 18 month extension. Maybe you can do that? If you find out I would love to know as I plan on doing the same thing.

Did you go to a NEXUS Enrollment Center to provide them with your US Permanent Resident status after you entered with the immigrant visa? https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/prog/nexus/contact-coordonnees-eng.html

I'm probably the only non-Canadian NEXUS card holder here - it is half as much as Global Entry!

Log onto the portal and you may have already been extended.  If not you should be able to start the renewal online and may not need an interview. If you do need an interview they outreach events in the US. I think you can only see those once there is a conditional approval.   I needed to redo my biometrics and was able to do it in Dallas at an outreach.

I completed mine online last year after I moved here to NC.  It took a while but eventually they mailed it to me.  I am sure it will take even longer now to send it but it will happen.

Yes, I have gone back every year so I have updated the card twice (when I had my conditional card and now that I have my 10 year one). I did just move (we bought a house) and I updated my mailing address...sadly they don't let you update the residency one. I am worried all the changes since my initial and they are going to want an interview for sure! haha

I will try to do this and see what happens. Need to make my list of travels for the last 5 years, then will fill out the application.

Yeah I think I will start the renewal and just see how it goes. You would think after all the checks for immigration, they wouldn't have much they want to see now....but who knows maybe CBP will be fine and now CBSA will have an issue haha.

Shouldn't be an issue.  Mary got her initial Global Entry last year and other than confirming her identity, they only asked her one question - "So you been to Nepal?".

Ah, my initial interview was kinda rough. They were worried at the time I was working in the US (as I traveled for business a good bit) so had to prove my Canadian employment at the time.
