NVC keeps rejecting marriage certificate

I'm having a problem with the NVC. They're rejecting the marriage certificate with "invalid doc." The message center won't open the message, so I can't view the actual feedback about the document (if there is any). Does anyone have experience with the marriage certificate from Philippines and NVC?

There could be several problems... is it the document itself or maybe the file type? Are you just now trying to upload the document? or is it rejected by NVC from a review? Here are some suggestions 🤔

  • Make sure it is the PSA marriage certificate, not the LCR...
  • The PSA certificate is A4 paper size, which is not common. make sure you didn't cut the bottom part off in your scan. I did that accidentally before I submitted to USCIS but I caught it before I submitted. When you scan it, scan to PDF so it will capture the whole document. It will resize it for you to fit.
  • What type of file format is it? They will only take JPG and PDF from what i experienced. if it is a TIF of PNG, etc?
  • your best bet is to submit in PDF format

We were using PDF, but I think we were using a local municipality copy and not the PSA copy. That might be the problem. Last night I logged on to the PSA site and ordered some new copies. Hope that helps.
