K1 NVC notification (merged threads)

My fiancee and I are filing for a K1 visa for me to move from the UK. From what I understand, following NOA2, which we received on March 30th, we should have received an email or letter from the NVC, or London embassy by now, saying they have our form, but we have had no contact since NOA2.

Can someone clarify whether we'll receive anything, or if we should call the NVC? I know there's coronavirus delays so if anybody knows if certain processes before the interview stage are delayed, we'd be very grateful to know. Can't find anyone talking about it on these forums.

Thanks!

Hi!

We are CR1 (also UK though) so slightly different, but you should have received an email from NVC with your case number. The "official" guidance from USCIS is that it can take up to 90 days for them to transfer your case to NVC, and it sounds like you are just about at that point, if not past it.

Has your USCIS case status changed to "Sent to Department of State"?

I would suggest you call NVC to find out if they got your case and have assigned you a case number. I am actually on hold with NVC right now, to inquire about our case. We were approved in late April so are still within their case transfer window, but anecdotally I think it is usually a lot faster than 90 days, and I know USCIS doesn't always update case status. If NVC doesn't know anything, call USCIS and ask them to look into why the case hasn't been transferred yet.

There is probably a delay for sending cases to the Embassy because of the shut down, but NVC should have your case by now!

Good luck!

Fingers crossed you're right!

Where can we view the USCIS case status? Sorry, we're not the best at this - just following the guide on this website! Should it be me (the beneficiary) calling NVC, or should it be my fiancee who is a US Citizen?

Do you have a link for contact information for each of these places? Much appreciated :)

Where have you looked?  Each month has a huge discussion thread for progress from uscis to NVC to consulate

Email (if address on file) or postal letter upon shipment of petition to the consulate.   NVC is presently holding shipments

You can view your case status here: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

Just enter the case number on your NOA2!

The petitioner is going to have to call--I am not sure about NVC, but USCIS wouldn't give any information to my partner without me (the petitioner) being present.

The USCIS contact information can be found here: https://www.uscis.gov/contactcenter

and NVC here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/national-visa-center/nvc-contact-information.html

There is a pretty long wait time for NVC (25 minutes in and still on hold!) though recently USCIS has been picking up the phone a lot faster. They will do a "security check" when you call which is just full name, petitioner address, petitioner and beneficiary DoB and case number. Just have your fiancee ask NVC if they received your case and have a case number for you. Hopefully you are all set and they just forgot to send the email!
