I checked my Case status on the CEAC website today and clicked through the links to look at how to prepare for my interview.

I came across a section that says I MAY need to present a completed DS-5540 Public Charge Questionnaire.

It's a little confusing (especially since it needs to all be in US dollars), in that it's asking a lot of specific questions pertaining to already living in America (Ie_ do you have health insurance in the US, List your US federal tax returns, as well as all assets etc in US dollars)

Is this worth completing, since I may not even need to present it?

I've never heard of anyone else completing one...

DS-5540 is a standard Form for alot of uses, K1 at embassy stage is just one of them... So not everything will directly apply to K1 applications. Just fill in the areas that concern you for example how much you have and investments.. Educational background... Health insurance if you have. If you don't have health insurance, just provide evidence that you will get one in 30days or your spouse will add you to his or hers within 30days of entry into the US.

The form is for the beneficiary and used to determine if they will become a public charge. Most embassies are requiring this whether it's in their instructions or not. We have seen some who have had their interview only to be given a 221(g) asking for the completion of the DS-5540 Public Charge Questionnaire thus delaying them another 2-3 weeks in receiving their visa.

It is best to complete the form and have it as one of the documents for your financials to avoid any delays. Fill out the document as best you can. If the question doesn't pertain to you then N/A would be appropriate. If the money conversion is a hindrance, then download a currency app to do the conversion for you. There are many available. The one I use is the ClevCalc which gives you many different functions for conversion. It includes converting from metrics to imperial.

What exactly do you need for this form ? Like do I need paystubs and tax returns from my country if I have filed them? I am also super lost with this form and what to provide as evidence with it and was about to ask here anyway.

it confuses me because it all asks about things I don’t have.
i had a regular income after I came back from the US in where I also paid taxes (1040nr ez?) 2017 and 18 but I have no transcripts of it and before I got laid off because of Covid.

sorry for bursting in
