Hi,

1. We are submitting our AOS this week and finalizing al the forms. For the 485, it says write the name exactly as it appears on the I-29F. It has my husbands first and last name, but on the form also has a middle name. We arent sure if we should just put his middle name or NA as its technically not on the I-29F, but obviously his middle name is written everywhere on every document.

We were told once someone put N/A as a middle name and had N/A on their green card, given the new rule to literally put N/A on any blank spot.

2. The photocopy of our marriage certificate is not coming out well at all. we are going to put our real one with a note on the cover page why. i hope this wont be an issue but we dont want to chance the copy not being approved.

This is our list for the 485 on our cover sheet, can anyone let us know if we are missing anything?

1.    Check payment in the amount of US $1,225 (Filing fee + Biometrics fee)

2.    Form G-1145

3.    Duly accomplished I-485 form

4.    Copy of I-797, Notice of Approval for the I-129F petition and acceptance letter

5.    Certified marriage certificate (Photocopy printed unclear)

6.    Copy beneficiary birth certificate

7.    Copy of biographic page from beneficiary passport and entry stamps

8.    Copy of K-1 visa page from beneficiary passport

9.    Copy of Form I-94, Arrival-Departure Record

10. (2) 2”X 2” size colored photos with name, date and A Number on back

11. Copy of Vaccination Documentation Worksheet, Form DS-3025

Thanks!

Caitlin

Put the name on the I485 that you want on the GC.  For instance for my wife, she chose to take my family name, so when we filed the AOS, we put that name on the form and all other names on the other names used. I am not sure where it says the name has to exactly match the I129F, since this is difficult if someone changes their family name.

Where does USCIS say this? I have never seen that in the instructions. Women who have changed their name when they married do not apply in their petition name. The form says Your Current Legal Name (do not provide a nickname) His middle name is not N/A.

Skip the note Caitlin. It is fine to send the real one. You won’t get it back, so order a new one to have for yourself. What is the problem with your photocopier? You are going to need the marriage certificate again and again so order a pile or work out the copy problem.

Hey there, sounds good. We usually use my photocopier at work which is a really nice copier but I obviously cant go into the office right now, so using a home one and its just not as good. How many more times do we need the marriage certificate? for the interview and citizenship I would suppose? Thanks for the responses!

Hey there, I meant I-94 (I put it incorrectly above) it says it on the 485 form right above the boxes to fill in for that section.

Provide your name exactly as it appears on your Form I-94 (if any)

The I-864 and I-944 are part of the requirements supporting the I-485 application. They are not separate applications. They go in your list

Check payment in the amount of US $1,225 (Filing fee + Biometrics fee)

Adustment of Status

  1. Form I-485

Oh,  you are talking about #25abc.  His I-94 has only his first and last name?  There is no mention of his middle name? I wouldn’t put N/A because it is an applicable question. I would put -none listed- but that is totally up to what you think. I’m sure people put all kinds of things.

Yeah the I-94 only has his first and last name. We were wondering if she should omit his middle name then on the form. We will probably put none listed on 94 or put his middle name.
