What tax forms to send instead of transcripts?

My husband is currently in Canada with me and we just got our notice from NVC that our case has been approved at USCIS earlier than we expected. Now We are trying to figure out his tax information and the issue we're having is that he can't even make an account on the IRS website because they require an account number from a credit card, student or bank loan, mortgage, etc., none of which he has, as he has tried to stay out of debt. So we cannot even make him an account, which is extremely frustrating, as another person has pointed out, there is no secondary option for mail-in or anything. As far as we can tell the only option we have is to just submit his tax returns and hope they accept them.

Now the issue is, we aren't sure which forms we should include. My husband isn't super savvy with paperwork, so that's my domain, but I don't understand American tax returns. Here's my question:

When it says to submit a 1040, does that just mean the one page? or does it mean all 5, 10 or 20 pages in his one-year return? Two of his returns are 75 pages long from Turbotax....  I can't imagine they would want all of those pages of nonsense, but we don't want to submit the wrong papers. We have his w2's, which we will also submit, but then it also says to submit any schedules or other evidences of income. My husband says he doesn't think he has any, since he has only had one employer and source of income for the past 3 or so years.

Can anyone explain to me in the simplest terms possible what exact forms we should scan and send into NVC? I'm also assuming I'd be required to bring any and all of these forms with me to my interview.

I'm in the same situation and I think the only option is to get a credit card.

Nvc requires birth certificates, passport bio page, marriage certificate, passport photos, signed and scanned I864, 1040 or transcripts, pay stubs and optionally a letter from the sponsors employer.

If no transcript you will need

1. the entire 1040 tax return package regardless of number of total pages as any supplemental documents will be connected to main 1040.

2. W2

Others like evidences of income like paystubs and/or employment letter are recommended in all cases.

In addition to what arken said,  I was planning on including a screenshot from the IRS "Get Refund Status" webpage (you can access this with your Social Security Number and don't need a credit card etc.) as proof that the IRS received our filed tax return.

Thanks for your input. Are you sure they require passport photos? I haven't seen that anywhere on the NVC website, but I've seen people mention it. If so, should they be just of the petitioner, or of the beneficiary as well? And do I upload them to CEAC, or just bring them with me to the interview? I wish NVC would publish a simple list somewhere.. their 12 step page is confusion to me.

passport photos are brought to interview of the beneficiary.  They need a photo for your visa and subsequent green card.

Submitted DS-260 today and can now see what documents need to be submitted. It turns out there is a place for photos, but it said I shouldn't submit them until I get an interview date. If that is the case then why is there an option to submit them?

Thanks! This video was super helpful, though now I feel like I'm left with even more questions, and am pretty sure I requested the wrong police check...
