After a state representative and a rural county coroner raised questions about the way Colorado is reporting COVID-19 deaths, the Colorado Department of Health and Environment said today it has changed its practices.

The difference? As of Friday, Colorado now has 878 death certificates showing the death was due to COVID-19. But the state has reported 1,150 deaths as having occurred “among” people with COVID-19. In nearly every case, the individual tested positive for the disease before death.

This requires some explaining.

When a person dies, the attending physician or county coroner fills out and signs a death certificate listing a cause of death, and the factors that contributed to that death. The process is straightforward and forms the basis of the vital records maintained by the state.

Basically, they were inflating deaths attributing them to the virus. And in this case they revised down the numbers by around 25%, which is huge.

A few high profile cases helped facilitate this change that should've otherwise been standard if it weren't for state propaganda.

Montezuma County Coroner George Deavers questioned why a man who had a blood alcohol level of 0.55% when he died May 4 in Cortez was included in the county’s COVID-19 death count.

Deavers told Denver7 the man had tested positive for COVID-19 but had a history of alcohol issues, so he performed the toxicology text, which came back nearly double the lethal amount.

The man’s death certificate lists the immediate cause of death as ethanol toxicity and the underlying cause of death as liver cirrhosis but does not list COVID-19.

“An unnatural event overrules a natural event,” Deavers said in an interview. “If you have COVID and you fell off a building, died of blunt force trauma, a motor vehicle accident, shot in a homicide – those things would overrule the COVID.”

Nearly a quarter of the people Colorado said died from coronavirus don’t have COVID-19 on their death certificate

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announced a change to how it tallies coronavirus deaths amid complaints that it inflated numbers

early a quarter of the people reported as coronavirus deaths in state statistics don’t have the virus listed on their death certificates — at least not yet — the state Health Department said Friday, adding more uncertainty to how many people the virus has killed in Colorado.

The number of coronavirus deaths in state figures topped 1,000 earlier this week, and the number stood at 1,150 deaths as of Friday afternoon. But officials with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment revealed during a call with reporters that that number does not represent the number of people who have died due to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

As you can expect, when embarrassed, they simply play dumb. Whaaaat? We thought the public would like to know how many simply had Covid when they died rather than died from it!

Not a surprise, had a beer with some friends and was surprised how many were aware of the fraudulent misuse of stats.

Michigan is the same way and they show no signs of changing anytime soon.  If someone has a positive test, or is suspected of having the Covid even if they died from trauma or some other unrelated immediate cause, they are added to the count. On the bright side, the statistics for all the other major causes of death will look really good.
