Hello everyone! i got to the nvc step and since my wife is not required to sponsor me, her friend is sponsoring me and he meets the requirements but he's claimed as a dependent, is that gonna effect my case or should we look for an independent?

If he is claimed as a dependent then his entire household, your wife and yourself would be included in the income requirements.

Your wife IS required to sponsor you. The friend is a joint sponsor.

As for the first line above, the petitioner (referred to as "your wife") above)  DOES NOT count in the joint sponsor's household.

I really can't imagine a set of circumstances where a person claimed as a dependent on another's tax return, could qualify as a joint sponsor.  Maybe, but no set of circumstances comes to MY mind at this point.  Best to look for a qualified joint sponsor.

To be clear, the petitioner is always the primary sponsor, whether they qualify or not.  When they do not qualify, a joint sponsor can be used.

totally agree and the embassy will question u strongly on your education and past employment

not sure why you say your USC will not sponsor you but she has to submit a tax return and do the I 864 / she should show assests if she has any

Casa is already a hard embassy and you need to fully understand they will question everything if your case is weak

a friend?  not strong / would be better if a joint sponsor was a relative if the USC
