Nothing - CR1/IR1 status is determined at the POE.   If you have been married two or more years when entering you (should) receive a 10 year green card.

Hi Paul and Mary,

a question within these lines of what she is asking.
I have updated police certificate, 2019 tax returns (not transcript unfortunately - IRS hasn’t processed yet) and a joint sponsorship (for backup if needed).
I am in the embassy stage and just waiting for rescheduling from the closure. Do I need to upload These docs on the CEAC and press submit? Or do I just upload without pressing submit? Or am I just supposed to bring it with me and not upload anything on CEAC?

there is conflicting information all over VJ and wanted to see if you had Insight. Thanks for your time!

Hello,
I have another update, and unfortunately another confusing question.

I emailed a week ago asking if documents sent during lockdown were received. They responded that there was no record of them receiving them even though I got an email confirmation when I sent them in May.

I was told we have to start again at the interview stage. Which, I assumed we would have to do anyway. I am currently gathering docs again. After calling the international IRS line I was told my 2019 transcripts are not ready. I filed by mail in June, but he told me that it's likely they haven't been filed yet due to their extreme backlog.

My question is, will they accept a letter explaining this at interview, or is this non-negotiable? Has anyone else experienced this before?

I am hoping by the time we're even able to get an interview they'll be ready, but I'm not sure what to do otherwise.

Thanks in advance :)

If a copy of the 2019 transcripts are not available, take the return, along with all attachments, to the interview.

That's what I did with my 2019 tax returns. No issues not having the transcripts. Good luck.

Hello,

I have a further question regarding documents. I finally received my 2019 tax transcripts, and will be emailing them over.

However, I do not have any access to a scanner. All libraries are still closed in the UK due to the national lockdown, we are also not able to see people out of our immediate household so I can't use a friend's, and don't have access to scanners at either of our places of employment.

Is it acceptable to send in pictures of the documents, or is it 100% necessary for them to be scanned?

Thanks in advance! :)

I used a scanner App on my phone to scan all my documents :) Worked pretty well. I think a picture will do, but just download an app on your phone and it will make life much easier. Cant remember the name of the one I used but there are a few free ones

Hello,

I have yet another question after a change in the situation. My husband has recently received a job offer from a US company that will sponsor him. We would now like to withdraw/close our case that is currently with the Embassy. The website says to send a letter stating this. I would just like to know what to include in the letter. Do I have to explain the reasons we are closing the case? Should I go into detail about the current situation, or just simply state I want to close it? TIA!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the help! VJ has been my lifeline through this entire process!  xx

I highly recommend that you do NOT withdraw the spouse visa case for your husband.  It's ok for a company to sponsor your husband for a US work visa while his spouse visa process is ongoing.  Just use the visa that gets issued first.  Since his spouse visa process is already at the interview stage, that will likely finish first.  Have you submitted all the documents required by the embassy to get an interview appointment for your husband?

Will do, thanks. I was unaware that we are able to do both at the same time.

Yes, I have submitted the documents required, but have not had any response from the embassy about booking his second interview.

Thanks :)
