Hey all,
I can’t seem to get a good answer to this question, I got my EAD approval for a few weeks now, however, I have not physically received the card and my online only indicates an approval....I received my social security card last weekend (a replacement card because I had a social years ago). Is it normal to receive your social security card before the EAD card and also can I seek employment with the social until I have the card physically. I tried calling USCIS for this but I can’t seem to get to a representative.
any feedback is welcomed. Thanks

Did you on-line case status ever read "We have ordered your new Card" then move to Approved status? If not perhaps a call in to USCIS, just to make sure. When you call press 1,1,2,2 when they first answer.

I think the SSN stats is not relevant as you had this in place already, you just orderd a replacement SSN card.

Perhaps an employer could use E-Verify to check if you are looking to start in the next day or so(??)

The only change I’ve seen is approved. Thanks I guess I will call them and see if I can get any answers. I guess I was just a bit shocked that the social security card arrived before the EAD combo card. I haven’t started to apply for jobs as yet because I used that social years ago and it wasn’t active as I was out of status.
Again though, thanks for replying.
