N-400 Interview After Divorce

I am curious to hear about naturalization interview experience based on 5 years of possessing permanent resident status where green card was originally obtained through a bona fide marriage but after 3 years divorce happened. Is it a common thing to ask questions about marriage, reasons, details etc? I've seen just a couple of opinions on forums when people said no need to worry about bringing up old marriage if naturalization is based on 5 years of being a resident. All attorneys reviews and articles, on the contrary, say "of course they review everything, expect questions". But I don't trust attorneys. They are making drama very often. I trust first-hand stories. If anyone had such an experience, could you please share?

I have applied and approved based on 5 years rule and also divorced. All IO asked was my marital status and the date of divorce. I've also heard different stories and prepared to answer any questions might come up however IO did not ask any extra marriage questions just confirming the information that is already on my application.

Its all depends on the officer and whats in the file. I was married for 16 years and two kids and divorced but officer asked me several questions regards to previous marriage. I ended up withdrawing the N400 due to issue with maintain continuously stays in the country requirement which I did not qualify for it.

Anyway I reapplied again after two years the officer did not even asked me a single question other than N-400 civic and history questions, It last only 20 mins interview and received approval on the spot.

Like I said its all depends on the circumstances around the cases.

Hey! Did you finally applied for N400?

Please share! I'm divorced, filled I-751 after being divorced, was approved with no interview in 2019, on February 10 2021 applied for N-400 (5 years rule)

Hi, I am having N-400 interview in a month and will let you know.

Hey John! Thank you so much for getting back to me! I'll wait for your experience! I'm waiting for my interview as well now, applied 40 days ago (90 days before 5 years) biometrics were reused 9 days after applying.

Can you please let me know how many days before your interview you got notified about the interview?

No, no, my question is what is the gap between the day you get notification for the interview to the day of the actual interview

Thank you!!! And a lot of good luck!

Hello! For those curious here is my interview experience.

I arrived in time, went through security check, checked in and was waiting for 35 min before called out by an officer.  He was very nice, he also seemed shy or new, not sure. I sat down in front of him in his office. He was reviewing my case right in front of me for about 5 minutes in complete silence. Then he began with tests. The history test questions could not have been easier. Neither have reading and writing tests. Then review of the application form followed. I was asked about my marital status in the order questions appear on N-400 form. I said that I am divorced.  He said, since you are applying based on 5 years, you are fine. We continued with the remaining questions. I signed the form and thought that was it, BUT he kept sitting in front of me in total silence browsing something on his monitor for like 5 min. Then he paged the huge pile of my case (it really looked like 1000 pages or so but I have never submitted so much) and suddenly asked: what was the reason for your divorce? I answered. He continued browsing his monitor. It looked like he was new and not sure if he has to ask more. I thought he was about to call a supervisor who would continue digging deeper into my marriage. But finally he said, congratulations, your application is approved. The oath ceremony was scheduled for the same day. 45 minutes thereafter, I became a proud owner of the naturalization certificate. The bottom line, in my opinion, they do not tend to ask additional questions about your divorce but probably they must ask at least about the reason because it looked like he found it in the instructions in the very end. So good luck with your application, YOU'LL BE FINE!
