Hi there,

We filed the form I-751 in February and USCIS received our case on February 12th.

But when I checked my case status today, it reads 'Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken' along with the message below.

As of May 7, 2020, fingerprints relating to your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number SRC********, have been applied to your case. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I never got a date for my biometrics appointment and we're not sure how to understand this status update. Did USCIS take my biometrics from a previous appointment when we first applied for the conditional Green Card? Did anyone else receive the same status message without having to schedule a biometrics appointment? Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

@Joy55 I got the same update in my I-751 on May-11. USCIS recieved my case on Mar 31-2020.

Hopefully this is not an error on their side. My receipt has the SRC prefix as well. Not sure if this is a coincidence.

@SusieQQQNot really sure if they are using the prior biometric on file because they charge a biometric fee on I-751.

They charge a biometric fee yes but ... would you rather they reused a previous one now to get the case moving, or that they waited till the ASCs reopened (and whenever after that you might actually get an appointment) to take your bio to justify your fee?

@SusieQQQLol.. I 'd be definitely ok with them reusing the old biometric.

I don't want anything back from USCIS other than an approved card or petition. 😀

And yeah you are right. There is a detailed USCIS explanation on reusing biometrics here: https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/uscis-response-covid-19

@SusieQQQ, @alfytony Thanks for the responses. I did just go through the USCIS Covid response page and it looks like most people that filed I 751 (Atleast me) would qualify for reusing biometrics. I initially assumed they're doing this for work related EADs but it makes sense to reuse old biometrics for other applications too.

Hi I glad i came here. I been confused since may 7th when i got an status updating email saying the same thing.
“Fingerprints were taken” so I guess they are using old ones. If yes I guess it’s relief at least they working on case. Thanks for sharing. And yes I filled around the same time as you.
