This "hub" is called a consulate :) Some of them have glass booths with microphone-speaker and a drawer do pass documents. IMO, unfortunately it is more likely for the embassies to just stop issuing visas than go to some unprecedented measures to continue issuing them.

Ahh so if that's the set-up then its seems they are already in position to conduct interviews during the pandemic, with maybe a few extra tweaks.  I suspect that you are right though, sad as it is they are not going to go out of their way to ensure visas keep being issued, more likely to happily report to the current administration how many less visas they have issued.

It’s pointless since all these officers sitting behind the glass wall you can even split on them only contact point is microphone so m wondering why would they allow on video call ?

Well I didn't realise that was the set up when I started the post, as you can see my post  above the fact the are set up like that looks like they are already in a good position to continue with interview during the pandemic with maybe a few tweaks.  Getting to the embassy is probably more of an issue

So all my documents are currently with the NVC and I'm waiting for them to be approved.  I was just wondering about the interview situation at the Embassy.  My Embassy is London and the government slightly loosened restrictions last night, not enough I would imagine for interviews to continue.  Anyway my question is do you think the Embassy should (or could) move to video interviews? To me it seems like a perfect solution to keep the line moving and also ensure you have a face to face meeting so to speak.  I know they need to see original documents but this could be done by having to courier them to the embassy a few days before your video appointment.

Just a thought wondered what people thought and if they thought it was a possibility

@8bithearts hi there, what restrictions are you referencing that have been loosened? are you taking about Boris's plan? Just inquiring since we are also processing through London embassy. thank you!

This is all true but we are in unprecedented times, the Corona virus they may be forced to be dragged into the 21st century, especially the longer restrictions continue

No, they will simply halt the processes, as we see them doing now.  Immigration is not a "right."

Yep Boris 'plan' , now people can travel, certain sectors can return to work.  As for the confusion of the plan is another thihg.

Nah, its highly unlikely they will do videos....interviews are meant to be personal one on one thing ....besides answers they need answers to real time questions and opportunities for you to show documents to buttress your answers .

You could provide a real time answer on a live video chat as well as showing documents to buttress your answers, the technology for all that is available.  You couldn't provide an original hardcopy of the documents that you hadn't already provided previously on the day of the interview

I don't think they will either, but it is possible.  Every barrier people have pointed out there is a solution that can be worked remotely.

I'll just be happy visa in hand however they choose to do it.

You also could be reading your answers. They also can check documents with black lights etc if needed. There are things you can see in person than over a video chat.  Not to mention how many countries have poor to little internet. Now only people in 1st or 2nd world countries get visas?

however the longer the lockdown and pandemic continues the more all businesses (and even government agencies) will have to look at alternative ways to do things.

No, they don't HAVE to.  We will all just wait until it clears up and they start doing interviews again.  We are at their convenience, not the other way around.  I'm in the same boat as many here, waiting for NVC to start scheduling interviews again.  It will happen when it happens.  Meantime, I'm living here with my wife and when we can go home we will go home.  No rush.
