My parents will be dependent on me but I think I make enough to take care of all of them.. I guess let me go to the actual financial requirements in I-485 to see how much are they looking the sponsor to have...Thanks

Well, they now look at totality of the circumstances. The poverty guidelines which you are referring to, is a minimum and they are increasingly likely to be wanting more for retired parents. Here is the worksheet they’ll look at. You’ll see negative weighted factors include age over 62 and any health issues or health insurance payment questions. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/policymanual/resources/Appendix-TotalityoftheCircumstancesFramework.pdf

Hello a question about the I-944 for my parents-

1. For each parent on the form I-944 the household members listed will be same as those listed on the I-485?

just for example-

1 For father'  I-485 - the household is 2 that is petitioner and father .

For father's I-944 - the household info will have info about the petitioner and father...?

And - on the mothers I-485 form the household size of 2 ( petitioner and mother)

So For mother's I-944 the household info will have info about petitioner and mother... ?

In other words-Do the parents' I-944 will have info about their spouses as part of the household? I would think not because each parent is filing a separate I-944 and the household will be themselves ( that is the applicant) plus the sponsors household?

Hello to all great and helpful minds here-

I have an update about my parents green card filing.

They both are still in USA and got their Advance Parole and EAD in September.

They have been waiting for the green card interview.

Now there is a situation back home in India where they want to travel back.

What are the complications if they do come back home on the AP?

If they do get an interview appointment in USA can it be postponed by a few months until they travel back to USA?

AP travel is very low risk. They should expect secondary inspection at POE; it's routine.

On the interview notice, instructions for postponement will be provided: "If an emergency..."

Thank you-   a quick google search mentions that if one wants to reschedule their GC interview then they should meet the immigration officer or send a letter.

My question is - would it be better if they wait till the actual interview letter is received in mail before contacting the USCIS?

Or would it be better to send a certified letter to the USCIS explaining the need for urgent travel and possible need for rescheduling the interview date...

Also is it even possible that the parents would not need to appear for the interview and might just get the green card in mail like the way they got their AP and EAD?

For family-based applicants its rare to waive the interview. It's more common for employment-based applicants. That is why the I-693 courtesy letter has generic language covering the circumstances of all types of applicants.
