Oof was August the closest appointment? That sounds like July immigrant appointments are already gone (not sure if DCF/K-1/CR-1 all take up the same slots).

I hope they’ve saved some appointments slots for CR1s!! We’re waiting on an interview date too

Me too! I know they have a lot of cancelled interviews to reschedule, but London was never busy before the virus, so I was hoping it still wouldn't be too far out.

CR-1 VISA TIMELINE (LONDON EMBASSY)

12th July 2019 — I-130 sent

19th July 2019 — NOA1, assigned Potomac service center

17th March 2020 — NOA2!
21st March 2020 — NVC case number received, all fees paid
25th March 2020 — Fees accepted, DS-260 completed

2nd June 2020 — Expedite requested (primarily medical reasons)
5th June 2020 — Expedite approved by embassy
8th June 2020 — Case in transit NVC --> London

9th June 2020 — Call from London to schedule interview

16th June 2020 — Interview (221G, pending medical results, everything else fine)

17th June 2020 — Medical (mostly went well but something odd was showing on chest x-ray, cue stress)

2nd July 2020 — Visa status changed to issue, notification from courier

3rd July 2020 — Arrived at depot, informed I can't collect due to COVID-19 lockdown in Scotland. Had to get it rerouted (took a LOT of phonecalls)

Ahh so for CR-1 this does not actually change anything, we still gotta wait till we get our interviews scheduled for us?

Does anyone know if that is done via letter or phone?

Yeah for CR-1, they schedule the interview for you after DQ at NVC and I believe it's sent by letter. 🙂

The London website had that order I gave for a long time. Then they changed the steps and they really make no sense. Some people rush it all through, but I try to emphasize getting your ducks in a row before picking appointments. I have been on this UK forum years and have seen the desperate posts about “My Medical is in two days and my GP surgery can’t give me my things for two weeks”.  It’s less stressful if you are prepared before each step and don’t get bumped out of the work flow and are stuck wondering when they will work you back in after pausing you for lack of preparation.

Get all the shots needed for AOS before your medical so you will be signed off and not have to pay $$$ to another approved doctor in the US. Even if the clinic says you can wait to get them, understand that you will have expense and hassle in the US that can be avoided if you get all that done and signed off at your visa medical.

Hi! might be a dumb question... is it too early to book my fiance's flight?his police certificate is on the way. the packet with me and my cosponsors info, new evidence, etc is in England. but not delivered to my fiance just ye. medical is on June  25th. Interview is scheduled for August 10th. was thinking of booking for after the 24th of August? or do people usually wait till after the interview to book the tickets. thank you in advanced for your opinion :)

Too early. Wait until he has the visa and passport received back after the interview. Stuff happens when times are normal. This current situation makes it just foolish to book now IMO. The virus has not gone away. A lot can happen to ruin your plans.

Does your CEAC still say that your case is with NVC

I've been wondering if we'll get any notice it has been sent to embassy given everything is closed, or if we'll just randomly be sent an appointment letter.

It does say that! I assume it’ll change when the embassy’s open and it’s sent across. But who knows

Mine has been saying it's at the NVC since I got DQ about 5 weeks ago. As far as I understand, it stays that way till them schedule and appointment and then NVC forwards the application to your spouses local embassy. Your petitioner will receive your appointment letter. I believe it's email and paper.

We haven't heard anything from the embassy in terms of emails of next steps (RE: What we need to do). We got our NOA2 in late March, given the embassy has been open for close to a month now, I would have thought we would have heard something, I tried contacting the embassy but they just hung up on me as soon as I started to explain my dilemma. Any ideas on what is happening?

They have a small staff working. They are not “open”. You can only contact the Immigrant Visa Unit via their contact form. They do not and never have taken phone calls. The people who have scheduled interviews for July/Aug did it online.  Where below are you?

  • Your NOA2 came from USCIS. The petition was approved.
  • USCIS must send your case to NVC.
  • NVC assigns you a case number, and sends file to London
  • London receives case and logs it in
  • London sends letter of instruction

After the first four points, you can follow the London K1 instructions on the embassy website  https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/fiancee-2/applying-for-the-visa/

We have received a case number from the NVC, we're not sure whether London has received that case as I don't believe we were given any notification about this (How would we know if this has happened?).
I have started to get together as much as I can for the full list of things that the USCIS website state for the medical/interview (just in case we don't have much time between interview and embassy notice), and we do have access to fill out the DS-160, but the NVC have told us not to fill this in until we get an email from the embassy with instructions etc.
