I'm not seeing any sources that say k1 visa holders are exempt from the travel ban.  For countries that are not on the travel ban list, yes, it would make sense they start issuing k1s when routine visa services resume.  But I'd be surprised if they issued visas to citizens of countries that are not exempt from the travel ban, such as British k1 visa holders.  If they do issue them, are we supposed to try and travel to a country not on the list and then try to enter the US?  Or just wait and cross our fingers they lift the travel ban before our k1 expires?

If they start issuing K1's to UK again then yes, you can just fly to Canada or Colombia or a carribbean island and spend 15 days there before entering the US. That is allowed.

I'm pretty sure British are banned from entering Canada or Colombia and most flights to the Carribbean require transiting through the US which British also apparently are not allowed to do.  Direct flights to Mexico seems possible but looks like those are often being cancelled as well now that cases there are rising.  Seems possible but risky as airlines are constantly cancelling flights to the Americas.  I think we will wait til the travel ban is lifted before scheduling if they do decide to process k1s before then.

My interview for K-1 was cancelled Aug 13th. My fiance and I have just decided to go ahead with moving to Scotland instead. America is imploding right now and its hard to see how its going to pull itself together again. Taking time out of the equation, which has been forced on us regardless, UK is a better outcome for us.

You can for sure fly to St Maarten and then from St Maarten onto Florida

You have to wonder what the state of the airline industry will be like by the time travel bans are lifted. I read a news article saying United Airlines has given a 60 day (required) notice that they may be laying off nearly half their US work force. Piecing everything back together is going to be a long haul.

Congrats on the decision! I do love Scotland, but I'm trying to avoid moving to the UK.  Thankfully we are pretty location independent other than travel restrictions so we are meeting in Mexico (if flight doesn't get cancelled) next week for a while, then perhaps 90 days in the US, then perhaps i'll come to the UK for a while or Croatia.  I have considered having my company transfer me to our Danish or other european office and getting him a spouse visa as I would love a european citizenship, but plan to stay the course for the time being.

They’re already processing spouse but not K1. The embassy website says they’ll process K1 when they resume routine services

If they're already processing spouse visas routinely then why are there a ton of people on this subforum waiting since March for an interview? Mission critical only, so emergency cases and other expedites.

If they do resume routine visa processing expect them to address the backlog in immediate family visas sent from the NVC, considering it'll be stretching all the way from March and we cannot book appointments like K1's can, we're waiting months on average anyway.

It literally says on their website that you can do this through a third country.

Yes, I get that.  I don't think that automatically translates to them issuing them despite the travel ban.

Because they only started processing them again as of the 1st of this month, based on what I've read. I'm not sure I'd use the word routinely, but I'm not really keeping track of spousal visas as I'm a K1 applicant.

Greg Siskind has also posted on his Twitter that this should be a comfort to people subject to the travel ban.

Ok, we must be reading this differently.  He says "Obviously, small comfort to those subject to travel bans".  I would interpret that as "obviously, for those subject to travel bans this isn't helpful for you".  Am I crazy? lol. We'll find out soon enough I guess.

I think I was reading it as you should at least take a small comfort in knowing they could start processing visas soon, more of a positive. But yeah, we’ll see!

Let us know how that goes, Jess and I are thinking of taking a couple of weeks in Mexico then going back to the US to wait things out together.  Then as soon as things open up in London just pop back for a month or so to do the medical/interview/packing etc.

How can your fiancée go to the US for 90 days? Haven’t they disallowed the use of ESTAs, regardless of whether or not you quarantine?

Sorry if I’m misunderstanding!
