US Department of State posted on their Facebook story that they are beginning a phased resumption of routine visa services as conditions evolve and that each consulate will resume services at different times based on local conditions. They list the conditions that will affect resumption as: medical infrastructure, COVID cases, emergency response capabilities and restrictions on leaving home.

This seems like the first true glimmer of hope!

Is this a new update? Can you post the link?

It’s on their Facebook story so I can’t share a direct link but here is a link to their page to watch the story: https://www.facebook.com/travelgov/

Interesting 🧐. At least they are saying routine visa services will resume. The “phased” part makes me thinks they’ll probably try to do the students first since they literally have like 1 month to get them out before school starts. Hopefully we’re somewhere on the agenda

I saw that if those with students visas were going to be doing online school their visas would be revoked and they’d have to go home

so maybe they won’t rush them through if a lot of universities are doing online school at first 🤔

Not London obviously, but here are links to some that have posted about resuming on their websites:

New Zealand: https://nz.usembassy.gov/visas/nonimmigrant-visas/

Brunei (they also have a specific page about student visas resuming but that’s not really relevant for us): https://bn.usembassy.gov/resumption-of-limited-routine-nonimmigrant-visa-processing/

I can’t find a specific link for Vietnam or Bermuda but I read they will resume

as well.

I think they will process spouse but not k1 if they resume routine services until the UK travel ban is lifted

They’re already processing spouse but not K1. The embassy website says they’ll process K1 when they resume routine services

Why did they cancel the appointment citing this reason then:

Suspension of Entry as Immigrants and Nonimmigrants of Certain Additional Persons Who Pose a Risk of Transmitting 2019 Novel Coronavirus

Assumed that referred to us?  If not, who are they referring to?

Not sure, but if you read the embassy website it clarifies that this is not the case.

It’s a generic email sent to all cancellations that likely changes as they receive more information. We got a cancellation sent last week and all our email said was just go reschedule. It didn’t cite any EOs.

It’s already been stated in multiple places by multiple sources that this is not true. Check the website, their twitter, their Facebook.

I'm not seeing any sources that say k1 visa holders are exempt from the travel ban.  For countries that are not on the travel ban list, yes, it would make sense they start issuing k1s when routine visa services resume.  But I'd be surprised if they issued visas to citizens of countries that are not exempt from the travel ban, such as British k1 visa holders.  If they do issue them, are we supposed to try and travel to a country not on the list and then try to enter the US?  Or just wait and cross our fingers they lift the travel ban before our k1 expires?
