USCIS is still processing the cases so you should see progress.

Hello Onek,

How do you know USCIS is still processing IR5 visas for parents? I mean, it just looks like the issuance of green cards for parents is on pause too but I hope that is not the case. If that is the case, I guess I will have to wait until the embassy opens again since my parents are just waiting for the embassy to designate an interview date for them.

Thank you!

Thank you!

You need to distinguish between the processing of the petition that uscis continues to do, and the Issuance of visas that is currently banned under the EO. Unfortunately under current circumstances your parents will not get an interview before next year at the earliest.

If you read this section of the forum, you will see IR5 approvals after the ban.  Below is one example.  USCIS is approving the cases, but the local embassies are not scheduling interviews for visas.

Applied for both of my parents on April 16 and got the first letter for both of my parents one week later . Nothing after that.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello everyone, I just filled online today for my Mother in the Dominican Republic.

I am worried because I just read some where that I needed to put her class of admission. She has been in the USA twice for 40 days each time, even though she has been given 6 months to stay but she never stayed for more than 40 days.

I was ask the date of her last entrance and the expiration which I answered. Her i94 says her visa type is B2, tourist visa. But I left that in blank, I don't remember seeing that and didn't get any red flag at the end of the application.

My mom is in Dominican Republic, she lives there so there is were the interview is supposed to happen.

Will her application be denied because of that (Class of admission)? I stated in the application that she is outside the USA.

That’s a great news. Now she can be united with you.

USCIS doesn’t deny application for such little things. You can still log-in to your account and add supporting document with the missing information

What a relief! I uploaded her I94 last night.

Thank you so much.

Good morning,

Does anyone know if I130 can be updated online or by calling USCIS?

Looking at my snapshot I see question 2 in blank, my parents are biological and were not married at the time of my birth. I believe that is a really important question and I don't even know why in hell would I leave it in blank.🤦🏾‍♀️

The snapshots on myuscis do not always accurately reflect what you entered on the form for some reason. You probably did enter it correctly.  I had blanks showing up on the snapshot of one of my forms but at the interview the copy the IO had had all the correct answers that I had put in.

I got an update (online) on my petitions for my parents (roughly about 2 months after applying). It’s an RFE because I did not have a birth certificate (I submitted “non availability certificate” and 2x “affidavit by parent”, which obviously wasn’t enough).

The RFE suggesting submitting DNA evidence.  My parents live in Vancouver, Canada and I live in Seattle. I see there are approved DNA labs near us. But given the border closures we all can’t get tested at the same place.

Does anyone know how this works? How do we coordinate the testing, confirm relation and submit evidence?

Thanks for your help.

I hope that is what happened, I submitted my birth certificate and my parents marriage certificate too, I hope they can make a guess from that.
