How are conservatives the rebel alliance? They're in the White House and they control the senate. Even based on policy, conservatives are The Empire. Have any of them even watched a Star Wars movie?

You do realize that it is the states that are doing the lockdowns, not the federal government.  Now the states are controlled by both Democrat and Republican governors, but we seem to be seeing more of a doubling down on the lockdowns in Democrat controlled states.  Heck, Oregon just extended their lockdown another 60 days even though they are one of the least hit states.

For the greater good, yes. Rebel Alliance has factions that have their own rules as well. Besides, the federal government wants states to reopen while it's not safe because corporations are losing money.

 

But also George Lucas has already literally said Star Wars was about Nixon.

 

The Empire is literally based on the Republican party.

You're not the rebel alliance for fighting something that's in place to save lives. That just makes you Empire plants hoping to destroy the alliance from the inside because getting the death star all the way over to Alderaan was too expensive.

Yes, it’s all about the big bad corporations.  The simple fact is everyone is losing money, and the economy is digging an even deeper ditch.  As to likening this to the Star Wars franchise, that is kind of silly, but sure, the Rebel Alliance is all about Socialism.

You should really watch Star Wars again. I think you're confusing it with Star Trek? The Rebel Alliance is working towards the goal of restoring the Galactic Republic, which is a democratic republic. McConnell is essentially Palpatine.

 

In Star Trek, they're absolutely living in a society based on socialist principles. But then again, Earth in Star Trek is a utopia in which everyone can just create art, do science and explore the world and the universe well beyond it without anyone stopping them.

Sci-Fi isn't really huge on conservative values, trying to make any comparison between a positive in sci-fi and conservatives just doesn't work.

Whatever.  I realize today is May the 4th, but it really isn’t relevant to any discussion, but to sum it up, the Democrats/Leftist are for much more government control, the GOP/conservatives are for less government control, although it is hard to tell the difference at least with those currently in Washington.  So all of the Washington, or Brussels, or pick your favorite government, political elites are on the side of the Empire.

Star Wars doesn't deal with socialism. There's nothing socialist about the Galactic Republic. They're a democratic republic, not a socialist government. 
 

Star Trek fully explores what modern socialism can accomplish and the good it can do for its citizens.

Also, this is absolutely relevant, the article is literally comparing a government that tries to help its citizens to an evil empire.

I was replying to the part where you were kissing the dirt of federal bureaus that have a long history of corporatist corruption. I don't care for the Star Wars or Star Trek discussion.

Ah yes, the CFPB, the federal bureau with the long history of corporatist corruption since its creation before time began, in 2011. Written about by corporations all across the land. Corporations that definitely don't have anything to gain by the end of the CFPB.

The writer clearly thinks they're the good guys by bringing up Star Wars, while the Star Wars analogy actually proves that they're the bad guys in this. It's the perfect self-own, actually.
