Opening up retail here may 18. masks required for employees but not customers, have to limit occupancy to 25% capacity. we only have 89 active cases left and only 5 of them hospitalized. had no new cases today. the virus is taking a snooze

it does if you buy enough time for vaccine/better treatment(death curve for the latter)

Interestingly, this seems to be following a similar trajectory to SARS. There was never a second wave for SARS - it just disappeared. One thing I wonder about is why people are so sure this will have one "because every pandemic does", when it's mostly influenza patterns that exhibit that. Maybe Corona viruses are different.

In answer to the thread's question:

Mrs. T-B. had elective surgery in March that was rescheduled for May 12.

On May 11, we were told that I could only drop her off, not enter the hospital.

Upon arrival May 12, we were told that I could accompany her in.

This applied to Surgery Waiting, and to her regular hospital room.

However, I couldn't leave to go home and then return.

True enough.  Most of the major ones we've had don't seem to have a 2nd spike.  I can hope!

It's the part of the curve that spikes above capacity that reflects the greatest concern.
