What's It Like Where You Are Now That We Are Begining The Transition Back To Normal?

I think the UK is gearing up for lockdown measures to be eased. Awaiting the official go ahead but it seems it may start on Monday... Our stats are devastating but I do think we need to tentatively move forward. Our new "normal" will most likely be to continue with social/physical distancing with the use of masks.

I know our vulnerable will still need to kept safe and continue to shield themselves however I think with good infection control measures one doesn't need to self isolate strictly to keep safe (eg. Have visitors that are wearing masks).

I think it's important to consider these measures are fluid and can be stricter if there is a risk of a double peak as some predictions even show a risk of an upcoming deadlier bigger peak.

Because I don't like how the numbness feels for hours after that. If it's not really deep/close to the root, it actually doesn't even hurt much. The novacine injection likely hurts more.

My dentist has done fillings without any injections. Barely bothered me, but he knows when it's going to hurt and when to inject me.

Never had one and honestly wouldn't want to, but some people think I'm crazy enough for getting fillings done without numbing

So had to go to emergency dentist last week. Never. Again. I'm pretty sure he had no idea what he was doing (normally injections via regular dentist rarely cause any pain), he injected me multiple times and at some point I felt this severe searing electric shock sensation shoot through my face into my eye socket and ear. My ears started ringing and I almost blacked out. My entire tongue and right ear went completely numb and I've now had difficulty opening my jaw. Next morning my tongue was bruised and my jaw is locked. Pretty sure he hit something he shouldn't have. Hate dentists on a good day but this experience filled me with fear now.. I'm going to end up going back to the regular guy whenever he opens to probably fix the tooth, because I'm sure he didn't do it right.

My father was a dentist, and growing up I had just a few cavities that were not too deep.  When he filled them he would never numb me even when I begged him to.  He always told me "it will be over in just a few minutes".    The most excruciating few minutes of my life.

Later in life I had to do a crown for him on a live tooth.  Went to numb him and he said he didn't need it.  I realized he had a high tolerance for pain, and probably figured everyone else did, or should.

Yeah, I really don't find it very painful, I dunno 🤷‍♂️

A few years ago I needed a filling done with a new dentist that I had only seen a few times prior, she was a little surprised, and kept asking me if I was ok throughout. I had no issues. She said she thinks she remembers only one other person ever doing it that way without having to stop in the middle.

Yeah, I like the dentist I have now. I'd be really hesitant to switch again.

Add about another $1100 or $1200 at least for the crown.

I did a grad specialty in prosthodontics, but really I am doing general dentistry.  I'll do root canals, but NOT molars.  I HATE doing those.  I do some implants, but just easy ones.  No sinus lifts, etc.

Even I had a root canal (my first) two years ago.  Had a crack in my tooth, but it was savable.  After my endodontist friend finished he told me "you know you'll need a crown on that tooth".  I agreed.  Then he asked me "are you going to try and do it yourself?"

I had my daughter do it for me.

Worst for me was getting crowns on two wisdom teeth.  My jaw muscles hurt for a week.

My wife did a couple implants with just novocaine.  The dentist kept trying to push a more potent anesthetic.  She had little problems.

My dentist told me one of the big reasons for getting wisdom teeth pulled when we are younger is not that they will always cause issues, but just that they can be so problematic when they do. Especially as we get older.

I got mine out in my 20s. Whatever sedation they give made me not remember a thing, and when they tell you to take Percocet don't ignore the instructions. :P Did end up needing antibiotics though. It was a good decision despite the risks. The big plus was the surgeon was ridiculously hot.

I have never had them out. My dentist told me a long time ago that my jaw was big enough to accommodate them without causing any crowding or problems, and here I am, almost 35 and he was as good as his word. I had the option when I was a teenager to have them out or keep them in, and my parents and I went for keeping them in because there was no need. Occasionally I have "teething" soreness that goes away on its own after a day, this happens maybe once a year. Every check up I have the dentist look at them and there's still no problem with them so they are staying in.

I didn't get mine taken out until I was 22 and unfortunately I was still active duty at the time. The overall experience was ok except for the part where the dentist accidentally dropped the last tooth on to the back of my throat. Which my body immediately swallowed on instinct. So after I was done there I had to go to the Naval Hospital for a Xray to make sure that it was in my stomach and not my lungs.
The dentist then messed up and wrote my Sick in Quarters chit wrong by having me go back to work on March 1st and the day of the operation was February 28th. So I got to work and sat around all buzzed with blood still coming out of my mouth until I was sent home because I couldn't work
