Of course you say now "i expect people to follow immigration laws" but you didnt state that before either. Just move north.

FWIW which in all of your eyes is very little, but whatever, in Canada I felt more free than I ever have here.  I have walked the streets of downtown Calgary alone at night and only once felt unsafe. I spent a week walking alone in Montreal downtown and didnt feel unsafe. Never would I worry about approaching  a police officer in Canada. But here I have looked into conceal carry licenses. I dont walk alone. I have a large dog. I lock my doors always. I wouldnt talk to a cop unless really necessary.

Yes I would move back in a heartbeat but since my husband served this country and continues to make the skies safe, I will live here until he decides otherwise. So go ahead and tell me to leave and go back if I dont like it. Im still not going, i just get really good at ignoring all the bull.

Following immigrant laws is a default process, so no, I don't need to attach a disclaimer to every post about people moving so it satisfies where your interpretation might wander.

I'm also not telling people to leave. Empowerment and freedom, making better choices, is better than dictating things to people. It's also better than trying to wreck a country because one doesn't like freedoms, when there are other options.

Uh, no. It's still not legal at the federal level. Even if your state legalizes weed, it's still illegal under federal law and you can still get arrested and convicted for it.

Weed is legal in Massachusetts. You can come here and smoke up a storm. What I find odd is driving while impaired by marijuana, there is no standard or test like there is for alcohol.

I think you bring up a good point about feeling unsafe. Even in the nicest suburbs violence occurs, just not as often as in the city. It all depends where you live, but it can happen anywhere. I live in a town where I could leave my doors open and the keys in my car, but I certainly don’t.

Lots of drug abuse here too, you never know if you’re going to be a victim of crime. The Second Amendment gives you the right to protect yourself if you do chose.

Yeah, it's also far more necessary in the US.

Also to note, pepper spray is illegal in Canada as well, and if you're caught carrying it, or a knife, even for self defense, you're screwed. You literally have no way of defending yourself against people with weapons. They have a distinct advantage. The only way this works in Canada is so long as there's low violent crime rates, but as soon as that escalates, people will stop following these laws to protect themselves anyways.

At any rate, I don't suggest Canada derive a second amendment, I accept that this is how Canadian culture is, laws and customs, and if I don't like it, rather than trying to fundamentally change Canada, I have the freedom to move elsewhere.

Edit: Also to note, some of this was a post in general, only the first two parts were to you.

You can under state law, you're still at risk under federal law, even if it's legal in your state.

There should be. It's just as dangerous. Impaired is impaired.

Are you saying that the criminals don’t obey the law and carry weapons even though it is illegal?

But lots of the good ones are banished, on both sides of the road. Glad I stay in the middle.

But I’ve been here longer than you. I was the definition of middle of the road while you were still a gleam in your father’s eyes.

I did eat a lot of game growing up and not sure my dad, uncles, or grandpa had a semi-automatic. Dad competed in shooting competitions but used a pistol or normal rifle.  Want vs need? Mine certainly doesnt get used to hunting.  Some of the guns banned are a little dumb IMHO. Like a 50 cal?
