It's not the application-  , your n400 along with the submitted evidences are with the national benefit center. Your A-records from the time you became an immigrant are supposedly stored at the NARA facility.

To adjudicate your case, they need both sets of records.

I've been trying to understand this myself.  If that is true, then why do some people get scheduled and processed so fast? wouldn't the same A-file storage apply to them too?  Is that maybe happening to people who have been here a long time, hence the A-files would be much older and stored at NARA...  I am just trying to get the logic (if there is any) out of all this.

PS.  I am not a May 2020 filer, but I got caught on this too.  My A-file is stuck in one of the Federal Records Center (got the official note from my Senator) and not moving ahead.

Good question-  I'm going so far as to think it's got nothing to do with being a Spring 2020 filer or sheer tough luck. Elsewhere I also read that some field offices ( or officers) are willing to adjudicate without the need of the A -files (i.e it is within their discretion)- not sure how true this is.

Having said that my A-file was created in 2015 ( entered the country back then)- so it does not seem to be the case necessarily where the records are stuck for those who have been here a long time.

The extreme vetting process introduced during Trump administration may also be a factor - some field offices / officers are continuing to use that excuse to be lackadaisical? Again no one knows .

Totally agree that there is no rhyme or reason to the insanity.

Rather than trying to figure out why it's happening  to us, I feel it would probably be more constructive to channel our focus on our options to ride this storm.

For example , Would a change.org petition help?

Would ranting over this to the head of DHS on social.media help?

Would getting the word out on traditional media build pressure on the incumbent agencies ?

I think that USCIS processing systems are so far down on the list of issues for the government right now they are just letting them govern themselves at this point.

I agree with this!    Can we find something or a few things that we all can do collectively to help push things along?   A petition maybe that we can all sign to send the WH and/or USCIS/DHS?

Ranting on social media seems to help things sometimes.. I am down to join in whatever we can all do to help move things along.

I think a change.org petition can help if we all can get lot of people to sign along.

I support the change.org petition as well. Lets see how many others are in it . We need the word to get out on the other threads as well. ( April 2020, March/April/May Spring filers group etc).

Yes, change.org might be a good initiative.

Got it, thanks. But I remember back then, I uploaded all the items online too and I just brought some papers to show the officer during final interview. They couldn't figure out after 20 months, something has been wrong...

Do you think all the staff still get paid without working for 20 months?

Once you create the link and please post here for us to sign. thanks.

I'm not a spring 2020 filler but i fully support anything to make USCIS accountable.  First with the mishandling of certain files as well as the astronomical processing times in some offices.  Totally unfair for some cases to be completed in a few months and others in years

😏🙄let's all sign the petition.

Same here, I will also support this.

Maybe a new post with the link will be necessary as not everyone is checking this individual threads.

I’m a May 2020 filler waiting for an interview.

Today I did my weekly login to my uscis account and found out that my case has disappeared and the below message pop up:

Encountered an unknown error retrieving your data.

Anyone has a similar error?

thanks

It looks like their online system is down... this happens occasionally.   Wait till business hours tomorrow, it usually comes back up.
