Good luck to everyone who are getting updates. Reading a lot of people “bitching” and getting updates, just curious how exactly are you guys “bitching” to USCIS? I applied in May2020 at Dallas field office and I have not heard one thing except receipt notice. Thanks.

Biometrics Appointment Was Scheduled

On December 31, 2020, we scheduled you for a biometrics appointment and sent you an appointment notice for Receipt Number XXXXXX. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your appointment notice by January 30, 2021, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So 2 things

a) The note above says Dec 31st even though I received it today ( 12/30) .  Is it safe to assume that the appointment is NOT for December 31st or am I reading it wrong ?

b)  My estimated wait time changed from  " we are taking more time than expected" to   "6 months" - not sure if I should be making anything of that .

This new process is ridiculous. Before then you were sending your application and 2-3 weeks later would do your biometric and then wait for interview. Now you don't know when get your biometric appointment and even if you would get or it would be reused and you are in limbo. It could be anywhere between 1 month later or 12 months and the same random dates, we have seen for interview and oath ceremony.

I am personally planning to go back to my home country and stay there for 2-3  months from the next March after several years, but I don't like to arrive there and in the middle of my travel, would have to get back since they send me the ASC letter. The wait time and completion times which supposed to give useful info about your timelines, are also inaccurate and not helpful at all. Also I was thinking, even if I postpone my travel after getting citizenship, have to wait 2-3  months for a passport. It is just a passport and you already have all the info and stuff and can print it in less than 5 minutes. why one needs to wait for several months to receive their passport?

Yep - unfortunately these are difficult times and we are  right in the middle of it. This year has exerted a heavy toll on all of us emotionally and hopefully this forum serves as a healthy outlet to vent some of that frustration :).

It is impossible for them to make an appointment for tomorrow. They normally post the letter for the appointment for biometrics or interview on the web before they send it to your house, so check again tomorrow to see the date of the appointment

Which New York office did you file at and was it mail or online filing?

I just checked my brooklyn office based filing and it also jumped 2 more months. From May 2021 to July 2021 .. ugh :(  UPDATE: I noticed my address in the profile was updated from new york to the new state I moved to a few months ago -  so I believe the change might be just due to the different load in the new city. No clear idea if USCIS will even schedule the bio at old address NYC or the new one that now finally shows in online accoutn.

It was showing as April 2021 before the pandemic hit full swing.

Well it's New Jersey for me and it was online filing . As long as the new address is on records, they should be scheduling at the new location for you.
