Pretty weird, i have same issues, if you check you status on https://first.uscis.gov/#/check-status you got totally different estimate, when you log in to your account you will see exact status and estimate.

Folks- my immigration journey came to an end today after 629 days here at Newark NJ.

My appointment was at 7am. I reached the office building at 6:45 am (after parking at the nearby garage). The building was open to applicants at sharp 7am. After the TSA style security checks, I had to go to the 14th floor. Right out of the elevator was a security officer who inspected the appointment letter and directed me to head to Window 2 which was specifically for N400 applicants (Window 1 was for AOS folks).

The lady at window 2 took my appointment letter (last I saw of it) and asked me to have a seat until an IO calls me. It was 7:20 at this point.

At 8:50 am, a lady IO greeted me and took me to the office for the interview. She apologized for the delay (which was due to system issues) and got right to the oath. Following this I was asked for my green card, ID and passport. The next section was the civics , reading and writing portion. I kid you not when I say this, it was done in under 4 minutes! We moved on to reviewing the actual application. The only things I was asked to confirm were:

·       Legal Name, and whether I want to change it

·       Birth date

·       Were parents married before I was born and whether they are US citizens

·       Date of my last trip

Note: No documents were asked for.

Following this were the Yes/ No questions. The officer was selective in the YES/NO questions she asked. Hence this too was short – probably 3 minutes at most

Another 3-4 minutes was spent in signing/confirming data and that was it – I was done. She did ask if I intended to travel in the next few months as coming back into the US without a green card was not an option.

At 9:08 am I was escorted back to the common area and asked to proceed to the 15th floor for the oath ceremony.

About an hour and 10 minutes later, 30 of us had a beautiful oath ceremony and we were pronounced US Citizens. Picture time!

Overall, I must say the Newark Field Office experience far exceeded my expectation. All personnel as far as I am concerned were courteous, professional- no horror stories to report here.

After exiting, I headed to the post office and submitted my passport application

There are so many people to thank on this forum for lending a helping hand or warm wish. The latest among them @sam713 has been a messiah of sorts for a large number of folks on this forum for cracking open the FOIA option – without which many of us Spring filers would be stuck in this rut forever.

Everyone who has been waiting for long and hasn't filed it- just do it. You have nothing to lose. Good luck and God bless!!

Congratulations! Very happy for you!

I don't know if anyone remembers me, but as I mentioned before: I requested A-file back in Nov 2021. It got stuck in step 2 for more than 2 months. Today it finally moved to step 4.

Still no information on interview scheduling yet. How long did everyone wait to get an interview notice, after A file request moved to step 3? 1-2weeks?

I read this before but now I understand the problem u might be facing because I did the same mistake.

when I applied my FOIA I chose the N-400 file (unfortunately I applied my FOIA before seeing this thread here and what Sam713 posted).

Correct thing is when u file ur FOIA, u should choose the Alien file (A-file). That will move ur case.

I filed another FOIA this time choosing the A file again yesterday. Hopefully this will get me the result as others.

Good luck

Hi Folks . QQ. Those who already attended interview . In interview letter they are asking to bring only GC,DL, passport’s,Interview notices . Mine is 5 yrs GC to naturalization category .Anything else you guys think need to be carried or uploaded to the USCIS portal ? Tax details are 2 year old ones I uploaded during our application filing time 2020 May. Should I upload or carry tax filed details of 2021? Any speeding ticket details I need to carry ? Let me know please anything you think from your experience . Thanks for help.

You do not need to upload those things, however doing so might speed things up and you will not be hit with a request of evidence.  USCIS is not interested in speeding tickets (unless those are >$500) but it is handy to have them with you to show that those have been paid for. If you have any agreements (continuance for dismissal and similar) you need to have those with you too. Taxes: just record of account would do. They are checking that you don't owe any taxes to the IRS. They are not interested in the whole tax return and attachments.

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free... and who will not become a public charge!

Timeline

1 week since sending FOIA request and I am in Step 2.

I also received and printed out a letter from the director of FOIA Operations about how cases are handled. So that is with all my other stuff pertaining to my N-400.

"Estimated time of completion" for request is 3/28. So I have my fingers crossed that I'll hopefully be done by my birthday at the end of May.

Wondering if anyone is in the similar situation here:

April 2020 filer. Submitted FOIA for myself and my spouse in mid Dec 2021. Spouse got the interview scheduled when FOIA was in step 2. Interview completion date - Feb 09.
My FOIA request was completed end of January along with the A file being made available in the documents tab. But I have not had the interview scheduled yet. Not sure if anyone had their FOIA request complete but no interview. Not sure where to go from here. Tried all the avenues before FOIA - SRs, Senators, Ombudsman.

That’s weird. All other ways were not helpful to my case (SR’s, tier 2 officers, ombudsman, congresswoman & senator). If I was in ur place I will give it a month after the file has been available online then ask a lawyer to sue them. Ur lawyer can apply a writ mandamus on your behalf. This will trigger a federal court to force USCIS and the department of homeland security to take action on ur case within 6 months. But this will cost u 4-5K USD.

good luck

I figured out why my interview was scheduled and canceled in the same day. They uploaded both receipt notices to my account. Apparently they scheduled my interview in the same day they sent me the notice. That's why they cancelled it immediately.

Also, In my interview notice it says I need to bring my green card with me. However, last year, when I got an I-551 stamp on my passport to be able to travel after my green card expired they kept my green card. Anyone had that happen? I'm not sure what to do about it.
