The internet has always had censorship puritans, they were just overwhelmingly of the conservative variety, and the rest of the internet scoffed at it, just as I did then, and still do now. It's not my fault the political left decided to change their views to accommodate awful methods of coercion.. outrage, censorship, etc. in place of discourse, even if its discourse we don't like, or abhor. No doubt, the election of Obama took a disturbing turn inviting identity politics and the propagation of entitled behaviors overcoming basic concepts of speech, the media certainly sowed the seeds of it quite prominently during Obama's second term. Normally this sort of lunacy is easily demolished, but the real problem has become the institutions catering to it. Just happens to be for the very same cause, in where it's ramped up significantly -- Trump. Thankfully my memory isn't 3 years long, I just don't owe an allegiance to any political party or ideology, so I have no qualms going after those who are the day's biggest problem. People on the left here didn't have a problem with it when we were on the same side and I was dispatching birthers, anti-gay marriage advocates, and warmongers with them, but have a problem with it now when they're become far worse -- unlike me, they clearly don't possess self-awareness and an ounce of introspection, as is the case with the entitled. The same logic behind why they were fans of Assange when he was rightfully showing war crimes committed by the Bush admin, and when he and Wikileaks did it for Obama, they went absolutely ape and justified his inhumane treatment by governments and deprivation of freedom, calling him a "Trump lackey", "Russian asset", all the usual trash espoused by TDS sufferers. The left has changed and in extremely rapid fashion. So too have non-left institutions.. media, social media, companies, and so on.

 

Thankfully my resume is replete with a functional memory and a paper trail of friends and references who I still talk to over 20 years later. Unsurprisingly, we derive the same conclusions on this. This censorship fanaticism has happened very quickly, and is overwhelmingly a response to Trump's election. And as I mentioned, even the social media CEOs acknowledge this, even cater to it, some are just in denial.
