Then why does the GOP feel like they need to legislate women's rights away?

because it's a men only organization, obviously.

Actually Pence was required to wear a mask at the Mayo clinic but didn't. He knew he was supposed to, the clinic confirmed they had informed his office ahead of time though for whatever reason his wife and his office have chosen to not tell the truth about that. He's the Vice President, who was really going to stop him from not wearing one?

Wearing a facial covering isn't about protecting the wearer, it's about protecting others around you from your asymptomatic butt. Why is this act of respect for others' health such a burden when it's literally 20 or 30 minutes of mildly irritating discomfort on a walkabout like this? Where there are people with weakened immune systems? It's a terrible, terrible look and he was rightly called out.

We wear our masks when we go out. I'm not crazy about it but this isn't about me, it's about all of us. All I see where I see people like Pence is a selfish person who puts himself before the needs of others. It's one thing when several people consent to be around each other without masks, go knock yourself out. Have fun if everyone agrees to it.

Your body, your choice? What about the people around you who don't choose to be around you but there you are anyway, asymptomatic and spreading the virus? There's no choice for them but yours. Selfish. No one of us is greater than the others.

I'mma have to disagree with you there. I don't wear a mask, and I don't do it because I'm selfish. So called 'experts' can't even agree on whether you should or shouldn't wear a mask. Some say it's effective, some say not so much. Some say it can actually harm you, if you have an itch, play with it, move it around, touch it, wear it incorrectly, etc. Moreover, initially, we were all told wear masks. Then, we were told Don't wear masks! leave them for hospital staff!. Then we were told wear gloves and make masks at home. In most places it's only a recommendation. Even the WHO does not say that people have to wear masks, they stress that the most effective and most important way to reduce transmission is social distancing, sanitizing, etc. Places that are forcing people to wear masks, without supplying said masks, and educating on proper wear, are not thinking things through at all imo. People will end up making something that isn't even conforming to standard, feel immune, get too close to other people, and only end up with more issues.

So no, masks should not be a must, and no, not everyone who doesn't wear a mask is selfish. I don't wear one precisely because I'm adhering to the WHO's guidelines, that state you should wear them in conditions listed here https://www.who.int/news-room/q-a-detail/q-a-on-covid-19-and-masks

Since I don't fall under any of those(not taking care of a sick person, not a healthcare worker, and have no symptoms) I don't. I feel like as a healthy person who feels fine, walking around with a mask will only put a bullseye on me for the virus to sit on for hours instead of falling to the ground. There's no point to it. I've never been one to follow the herd so even these days, where it seems I'm seeing more and more people outside wearing masks(seriously - probably gone from just under half of people a couple weeks ago, to 80-90% today) I still refuse to wear one. But I stay away from them, for their sake and mine, and I sanitize frequently. By that, I feel I am being much more responsible than someone with a mask who is getting too close(which I see plenty of).

This isn't something there is consensus on, even among "experts", and so no one can be expected to act a certain way. We should all make our choice whether we think the benefits outweigh the risks, all I can say about the increase in mask wearing that I'm observing is that it reminds me of the same psychological phenomenon that frequently accompanies many aspects of life(tops/bottoms in economy/markets, peace vs war time, etc), which is capitulation, or peak panic. Similar to euphoria, it shows up in an extreme. To me, the fact we are seeing so many people wearing masks now, people who a month ago may have not even known what covid is(when the exponential increase was much more dire on a percent basis), is an indication that we're alot closer to the end of this than the start of it, and no, it's not because of said masks 😉

I use "mask" as shorthand for face covering, and yeah, most of us shouldn't be wearing masks. Face coverings to limit the possibility of asymptomatic transmission is another matter. I live in Los Angeles County. We are required to wear face coverings to shop and to enter essential businesses. We wear them to protect others on the order of our county health board, and I also tend to agree with the advice. We have a serious transmission rate in LA County, and if the health board says wear one, I'm wearing one. I also stay inside as much as possible, to protect myself as well as others. I'm not perfect though -- we had to go to Target today, and I was reminded that shopping was for getting in and getting out, and not for swanning about the extensive toiletries section looking at bath bombs.

I think we often agree about a lot on here, especially about COVID19, but I think here we can respectfully disagree, though I do think you make some excellent arguments. :)

Assumes everybody has one, I do wear mine when I go into town, well when I enter shops to when I come out. Basically keep it in the truck.

So did I 🙂

(as well as the WHO).

I leave the house daily, usually for hours at a time, but we are not required to wear anything here(and we have had less than 1% daily increase on average for over 2 weeks now), if we were, I'd likely incredibly reluctantly oblige. I will continue to practice social distancing, while not putting anything silly on my face that I don't really have to :)

Are we also closing every other doctor's office because of COVID? It's a ridiculous argument and you know it.

Are you also saying that reproductive Rights weren't under attack before this? Because, again, you know better than that.

I wasn't even talking about what happened during the pandemic. If you're going to pretend that conservatives weren't trying to get rid of abortions well before this pandemic, I don't see the point of having this discussion.

I am talking about your argument that abortions must continue as basic healthcare while other basic healthcare is severely restricted.
