Hi @Sarge2155 - finally received my SS card in the mail today.

Just for clarification, when it says " Valid for work only with DHS Authorization" is it the same as having the EAD?

Thanks!

No it's not the same. You still must have an EAD card to be able to work. The EAD is your "DHS Authorization" to work! Once you receive your GC you can get that statement removed from your SS card. I see a couple other VJers have answered you too. Bottom line is if you have only a SS card that says that statement and NO EAD you can't work! Once you get the EAD that becomes your authorization to work.

Hi @Joliec

Congratulations on getting your GC in 7  months! Did you guys make any inquiries re the status of you I-485 or you basically just waited for the Interview notice in the mail? Also, how was it that they only interviewed one person?  Did they specify it in the letter that only the applicant will need to come in for the interview,  and not you and your spouse?

Thanks!

Hi @LaiQ

Thank you!
We didn’t make any inquiries, just waited for the status update.

If you file your I-485 based on marriage with citizen, you will have to go the interview with your spouse, this will be explained in the interview notice letter. I guess that all depends on the immigration officer whether he/she wants to talk to both of you or just the applicant. As I noticed, some couples were both called in to the room by the officer. But in my case, the officer handled my case only called me.
Good luck to you. 😊

Asking for relative: After biometrics does USCIS update case status of I-485? For I-765 it says card produced and I-131 case approved. But no update for 485. It still says fingerprint fees received.

Usually they will update it once you complete the biometric. In my case, mine was updated few hours after I finished my bio.
But I will not worry about it too much tho, sometimes they just don’t update it timely, my I765 just updated to card was mailed a week after I got the EAD

I haven't received confirmation, so I faxed everything again today.

Did you receive any response yet for your EAD? Is this at NBC

I think it's at NBC as I got the request for evidence from them.

No response, it's super frustrating and I have to have it by thursday. I asked them and they don't give a reasonable response. A tier 2 officer has been assigned to give me a call on Tuesday but no one has called yet. Does anyone know when they call you after requesting for tier 2?

Oh ok. Can I ask after how many days of requesting an expedite were you asked to submit evidence and what all did you submit?

I have requested an expedite too but haven't gotten a request for evidence yet and I'm starting to worry.

I'm wanting to just send the evidence before they even ask since how can it hurt anyway.

Could you tell me fax or mail address where you were asked to send?

Hello, some updates with my case.. FINALLY! Today I got the status change from "expedite request received" to "expedite request approved", and in 2 hours, it was changed to "new card is being produced".

My personal experience is, after biometrics, things are much smoother. The expedite request submission is sketchy, if you submit before you get biometrics, 99% of the chance you will get denied/suspended. After biometrics, make sure you raise a NEW expedite request through tier1/ tier2/ congressman. I made a mistake to ask a tier 2 to resubmit my previous expedite request (the one got suspended before bio) and it took me over 20 days of waiting time. One week ago after talking to tier 1, I knew that the first expedite request never worked! So I raised another one, got a new referral number through tier 1. And after several days, my expedite request finally got through. The only weird thing is they never asked for my evidence. Maybe because I provided all the expedite evidence through congressman office and they helped me follow up on the case as well. SO, hang in there, my friends. KEEP CALLING! The biggest boss is still biometrics, for people who still have not not got their biometrics, try to call more tier 2s to get biometrics scheduled( it worked, but you need to meet the right person) It's just a number game after all.

Hi.

I saw that you recently expedited your EAD. I have also just filed for a expedited EAD. I followed what you said and filed a new expedited ead request after my biometrics since my first one before biometrics got rejected. Can you tell me the following:

1) a detailed timeline of your expedited ead process?

2) what evidence did you fax for the expedite process? What do you think worked?

3) what exactly did you request from congressman and ombudsman if u did?

request to please help me with the same so I can request expedited ead too. I’m in urgent need of it due to unemployment from 9 months.

Please what is your timeline so far? I did also follow what this op said and I’m still waiting. I called tier 1 and the agent told me they responded to me since the 7th but he can’t see the answer and I still haven’t got an answer. It’s been several days now and online case is still “expedite request receive” I didn’t get the topical email people get few days to RFE

After 2 days they asked me to fax the document to NBC at lee's summit MO.

Following is what I sent:

3.      Tuition Balance of my wife

4.      A copy of my credit balance

Another exciting round trying to get an update on my EAD/a biometrics appointment. Could not get through on the phone...the virtual assistant is brutal and kept hanging up on me as I tried to work my way to connect with a live rep. Finally did live chat...not much better! So NBC is processing PD of 5/29/20 and my application is 5/27/20. The rep said to wait until 12/27/20 for it to be 7 months and THEN it will be considered outside normal processing times. She said "The processing times are listed as 5-7 months , honestly it's not outside of normal processing times until after 12/27/2020 that would be 7 months from the day you filed, after submitting at least 3 referrals with no response is the only time there would be a separate procedure." I let her know we already had multiple "secondary" service requests to check status with reference numbers....she said wait until the end of December. WOW. This is mind blowing stuff. I love being told multiple times to wait another 30 days and see if someone responds to the service request. Total BS! So still waiting for biometrics to get working! 🤨

Open a inquiry yourself, online, for outside  time

processing. You do NOT need a agent so to that! When a agent is needed, I call again, again, again, until someone is capable of giving me a correct information.

Same here, you are not alone. So mine is PD May15 . According to that I should at least get a Bio. But nope; thats just another excuse from them. This morning I tried to chat on EMMA too, the Rep she just hung up on me saying to JUST WAIT.

Guys, I made an expedite for my EAD. I didn’t receive any RFE. Few days later I got an email saying we have take action on your case and my case is under review and nothing since then. Please does anyone here experienced the same situation?
