I called 5 times this morning and was hung up on by the automated system each time no matter which phrases I used that worked before. I eventually used the Live Chat feature and was able to speak to a rep (after having my place bumped from 19 in line to 20...then 21...so weird!). She told me that they recently updated the system (of course they did). When I asked her how to speak to a live rep, she said that staff had "not been provided with the options" in the system so she had no idea (bureaucracy at its best!) . It's been 30 days since our last service enquiry trying to get a biometrics appointment (PD 5/27/20). Rep said my last request had "not been assigned" so she put in another service request. This is a really bad joke! No accountability. Not sure the service request really means anything since nobody has to get back to you. The great abyss just keeps growing larger! Very frustrating. Be nice to get work authorization and SSN to start working. This is dragging out beyond my wildest imagination. Jeez. If anybody finds they can speak with a live rep, please post the words you used to connect. Saying you want to speak to an agent doesn't work!

Hi there. I had the same problem as you in the past, very frustrating. I figured when you get to the automatic system and they request you for your number, make a voluntary mistake on the last number for example and the system will automatically transfer you. At least that’s what I tried. Good luck! This process is not for the weak it takes forever and I’m still waiting for my appointment.

What I have been doing and it works maybe 50% of the time is: I ask for a representative twice and get denied and then I ask for case status. Half of the time it will just read me my status and the other half it’ll send me to a rep. If it reads the status I ask for case status again and read another of my receipt numbers.

On your service request point, I’m going through the same. I submitted a request about 45 days ago and when I called again they just created a new one since the old one had not been assigned. I asked to speak to a Tier 2 and the rep said that I had to wait until after the 30 days (of the second service request lol). I couldn’t believe the nonsense. Anyway, I hung up and called again and the 2nd time, the rep quickly scheduled me for a Tier 2.

I've learned that there are some reps that are just not willing to help so it’s better to hang up and try again. Avoid losing time and energy.

Our updated response from the Senator we contacted to look into our case about getting a biometrics appointment scheduled (PD 5/27/2020):  I have relayed your concerns to USCIS, however, they have not provided a date for your ASC to be scheduled.  USCIS will contact you when that has been scheduled.  If you have not received any update after 60 days, feel free to follow up with me. Best to you, this response completes our inquiry into this matter.

My E- Request for getting BIO , got the response that you don't have BIO😷 ; can't get anymore worse.

My all 3 e-Request + 1 Expedite request + 2 congressman request, got the same copy pasted response that I don't have the bio and to wait  , Dimmitt! . IDK if there is anything else a person can do beyond this !

Finally got my biometrics letter. Just be patient I know this whole process is extremely annoying and stressful. I my case I don’t know if it’s because I made an expedite request for biometrics I finally got biometrics appointment. Try to do that as well.

My wife processed her change of name on her SS card via the mail.  We checked the SS site and it specifically says no copies. We took a chance as we needed her card changed as it was a hassle some IDs in the married name some in the maiden name. Let's hope you do get your card. Keep us posted.

@Sarge2155 It looks like you were correct about them being strict with sending the original immigrations docs. Received mail last fri stating they couldn't issue my SS card because they need the original immigration doc (ie my EAD) to process my request. The thing is, they could very well validate my information if they bothered to check the SAVE database considering I was already issued an EAD by USCIS right? Theyre transferring the burden on me when it should be theirs in the first place.. Will need to call again and hopefully get myself an appointment.

Yes they could easily do that,  but they won't sorry to say. If you can get a face to face appointment that would be the best thing.  Always hassle!

Aaaannnnnd the waiting game continues.. just got off a call with an SSA rep who was much more detailed and helpful than the previous ones I've spoken with. According to him, they did issue me a SS number and processed the card as far back as Oct 29 (when they received my application with all the documents). But the facility incharge of issuing the card couldn't mail it since my Apt # was missing. That's what prompted the new mail from SSA and need for original documents for verification. So the SSA rep said he would complete my info in the database as if he were seeing the original docs since I was already on the phone with him. He was apologetic for the mishap. He said this time around I should definitely expect the card in 7-14 days... so i'm back to hoping to finally see it in my Informed Delivery.🧐

Hi Everyone. Does anyone tried to apply got their social security before receiving their work authorization ?

In my experience, I waited for my EAD first before I started following up with the SSA for my SSN card.

I could have applied for SSN prior to getting married and before my I-94 expired but then it was the start of the pandemic lockdowns so the SSA office was closed and I didn't know I could mail in my application. I also didn't want to risk sending my passport in the mail as they would require original docs for verification.

Oh that's great news, I suspect this will be it and your card will be here shortly. You didn't by any chance ask him for the number did you?
