Tuesday is 22nd. Just wanted to make sure you don't end going for the appointment on the wrong date. Good Luck,

Oh, sh*t. Thank you so much.

My appointment is tomorrow in fact. Just called the office to confirm.

Both, first in the tracker and the mail followed. You have to keep refreshing your tracker sometimes to see an update.

Hey y'all,

After incessant calls to the Social Security Administration, finally I've got my appointment scheduled.  *fingers crossed*

I went to the SSA in Manhattan today. There were around 30 people in the room and only 3 attendants working. Even though we had an appointment, it is first come first serve dynamic. It took an hour for me to be called. The attendants were trying to look after 3 people at the same time. We were in separated booths though.

I brought EAD card + passport + marriage certificate + SS5 form. The process took 30 minutes. I was apprised that my last name won't fit the card cause it's pretty long (18 letters lol) and card will be received within 2 weeks.

Please because I live  in New York as well I think your info might be important to me. So I received a notice of action for my EAD card. But I have not received any letter for the biometric and I recently got an offer of employment. Do you think I can go SSA and apply without the actual card ? Also I read someone in the forum went to get their biometric without the actual appointment, do you think they care about all the informations?

thank you so much in advance

Hi all! Long time stalker first time poster. We filed our AOS in feb and it got rejected a month later because of the new public charge rules. So we redid it and sent it through in May. I received a biometric letter for the Houston office in August but the date of my appt (27 Aug) a hurricane was coming through and the office was closed. It is now Sept 22 and I haven’t received a rescheduled letter. I’ve tried calling the USCIS number and keep getting cut off so haven’t been able to speak to anyone. Am I able to go to the office and try to get my fingerprints done as a walk in? Can I contact anyone to try to reschedule my appointment?

I’ve been in the country since Nov 2019 twiddling my thumbs and hating every minute I’ve been here. I’ve genuinely reached the depths of despair. How are other people’s applications faring who filed in May?

Nothing so far on my case. I filed may,ASC reopened 27th July,so I'll wait 90 days since then(it's gonna be around 27th Oct) before I make official moves. It's frustrating, but I'm hopeful that may filers will be the next batch to process on USCIS list!!

Hey,

You might receive your SSN card even before your EAD card arrive in your mail. In my case, I received my EAD card a month ago but I didn't receive my SSN card thus far. Hence why I went to the SSA in order to apply for it.

If you go to the SSA without an EAD card, you will have to fill the application marking the box "alien not allowed to work". Once you mark this option they will ask you for an unexpired I-94. If you can provide it they will probably issue a SSN card for you.

Going to the ASC without an appointment can be very dodgy. They can either accept you or just deny straight away. I've seen in other threads people succeeding at this. I went to my appointment almost a week before the scheduled day however I had my appointment letter with me. They allowed me to get inside without any trouble. You can try going to the ASC but don't put your hopes up.

Best luck to you!

On the SSA website, K1 is under "alien allowed to work" section, so K1s should always mark the "alien allowed to work" box, even if they apply before having EAD just after getting to the country.

I applied in June 2. I am waiting for biometric appointment as well almost 3 month since response RFE and just hope that all of my documents will come soon. I know that this is a bummer to just wait and not being busy with work, not having a driver’s license. Try to go to English as a second language classes, that will helps to do something, they are free.

I want to encourage everyone here, that will be okay! We all are hopefully couple months behind having our documents. Don’t be discouraged by keep seeing other people getting notice from USCIS and you are not. That is different for every state and sometimes confusing.

Wish everyone here get documents by the ending of this year😊🙏

Everything you said is true and important. I also have my sad moments, as a May filer, nothing happened to my process yet, but I'm finding timelines from the same area that I live (Seattle, ASC office) and nobody (from May) got their bio appointment yet. So I can not be sad because New York is faster than Seattle. I'm actually glad that USCIS is working and we can see some cases development and that gives me hope. Thank you so much for being positive and share that with us!

Oh wow! People have been waiting so long. I have no idea how you all are doing it. I feel like I am losing my mind. I ended up calling USCIS callcentre and they basically told me not to bother them until after 90 days because that is how long it takes to schedule an appointment. So i guess for those of you who have been waiting longer than 90 days you should contact them and try to get an appointment. I did have to wait on the line for over an hour but she was very helpful and explained that if I called back after 90 days she would get an appointment time for me. This is the first time in 3 weeks I managed to get through on the phone.

This is the first time in my life since I was 13 years old that I am not working and with the coronavirus numbers in the USA climbing every day we have been in a shelter-in-place type arrangement since March so I can't even meet new people or make friends! I'm climbing the walls and howling at the moon.

There's indeed a huge backlog here in NYC. Even though I've seen some couple getting their interview letter already.

We're planning on going to my home country for a whole month. I'm just concerned that our interview might take place during our trip.
