Yes, it is stressful! But just don’t worry, that will be ok.😊

Hello all,

Where does the biometrics appointment notice come from?

I called USCIS last week and was told that the biometrics has been ordered but not scheduled. This morning, I got a letter incoming from the national benefits center en lee summit, MO.

I can let y’all know if it is in fact the appointment notice.

The notice just got in. For those of you who called and got told that the biometrics has been ordered:

Last week I called and was told that the biometrics had been ordered on 08/10 but not scheduled. Today I got the notice in the mail saying it was scheduled on 08/11. So basically, I was told on the phone that it had not been scheduled while it actually had been scheduled already.

Anyway, got the appointment for 08/28 in one of the Chicago ASC.

Also, no status update online.

Good luck to all

Hi all, I just recieved my biometrics appointment notice for 8/27 at Wheaton ASC (MD). We were informed that our appointment was ordered on 8/10 but not scheduled last week as well so I think if you hear that, it's a good indicator of your appointment.

Accidentally, my appointment is a code 2 but I read that a code 3 is needed for background check, does anyone have some insights on this?

Thank you and I hope your appointment notice is on the way!

What's your history of previous visas (i.e. have you been fingerprinted for all 10 fingerprints before) and what's your nationality?

I received two notices for biometrics (same date/time), one was Code 2 (I-485 and I-765) and one was Code 3 (I-485 only). When I showed them at the ASC the receptionist said that they only needed to use one. Still a bit concerned they didn't properly check, and I didn't push the biometrics tech on it. They took index finger and took my photo and no updates to my case since. I called and spoke to Tier 2 who said that both cases are showing biometrics applied, so now it's just a waiting game and hoping that they haven't messed up and I'm stuck in some form of limbo...

Hi thank you for replying! I don't recall being taken any biometrics in the previous 3 years, and I read a code 3 is needed for I485 background check. I will reach out to USCIS today and keep everyone posted here.

Hi all, just a quick update, I chatted with Emma and called USCIS this morning regarding the coding question, and received 2 different versions of answers. One suggested to call to talk to a Tier 2 and the other one said it's fine just show up to the appointment. So nothing really useful... I plan to attend to the appointment and request for code 3 fingerprinting if needed.

I filed the I-485, I-765 and I-131 concurrently. My biometrics appointment is September 1st. My appointment letter has Code 2 on it, based on what I have read I would have thought it should be code 3 also. Did you speak to a Tier 2 about this issue? @Eg8835

Hi unfortunately no, the second agent simply suggested to go to the appointment. I requested to talk to a Tier 2 but she seemed confident with her answers. Would appreciate if anyone else experience the same thing here?

My letter also says Code 2, so I am assuming It is fine. I filled for I-485,  I-765 and  I-131 as well.

I had my biometrics done on August 5 and mine was Code 2. Although they did also send me a separate biometrics appointment letter for I-485 that was Code 3. I showed it at reception and the receptionist barely glanced at it, and said just to use the one that was both I-485 and I-765.

Maybe this is a COVID measure to speed up processing?

I spoke to a Tier 2 agent about this last Friday and they stated it should be fine and all my apps (minus I-131) were showing "Biometrics Applied" and should be ready to schedule for interview. Nothing changed at all online for me in terms of status.
