While waiting for my interview, I’d like to sort out my expired medical exam. It’s been 2.3 years since I did my medical. Should I re-do the exam?

Are you adjusting from a K1? If you filed your AOS within 1 year of getting your medical, your medical didn't have any class A conditions you should be fine.

We did not get a new medical and quite frankly he never asked for it at the interview.  But that's what the official guidelines say.

Thanks, I will see if they require a new medical.

My status was updated to "ready to be scheduled for an interview" about 15 days ago but haven't heard anything yet. My field office is Seattle, WA. I called USCIS yesterday and they said an interview date has not been confirmed yet.  Does it usually take this long to schedule an interview? Is there a way to schedule or expedite it?

Seems that way. Our case was updated to "ready to be scheduled for an interview" on March 29 (69 days ago!), and no sign of a scheduled interview yet so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Timeline for Adjustment of Status:

  • May 4, 2020 (0 days) - 'Application received' (I-485, I-765)
  • Feb 8, 2021 (9 months, 3 days!) - 'Fingerprints taken', one day after biometrics appointment
  • Apr 13, 2021 (11 months, 8 days!) - 'New card is being produced' for I-765, employment authorization
  • Apr 17, 2021 (11 months, 12 days) - Original EAD delivered by USPS
  • Mar 29, 2022 (1 year, 10 months, 25 days!) - Case 'Ready to be scheduled for an interview'
  • Jan 18, 2023 (2 years, 8 months, 14 days!) - Received RFE for I-693 + evidence of marriage (I-751?)
  • May 2, 2023 (2 years, 11 months, 28 days!) - I-485 application approved!
  • May 9, 2023 (3 years, 5 days; or 36 months, 5 days; or 1100 days!!!) - 10-year permanent resident card delivered!

Timeline for EAD renewal:

  • Feb 23, 2022 (0 days) - 'Application received' (I-765)
  • Feb 25, 2022 (2 days!) - 'Card is being produced' for I-765
  • Mar 4, 2022 (9 days 🤯) - renewed EAD delivered by USPS

Timeline for travel authorization:

  • Oct 7, 2022 (0 days) - 'Application received' (I-131)
  • Dec 2, 2022 (56 days) - 'Fingerprints taken'
  • Dec 6, 2022 (60 days) - Advance Parole Document was produced

Ready to schedule interview since May 3, and today got an email from my congressman (I reached out in Jan):

A review indicates your constituent's application has been identified as a potential interview waiver application and is currently undergoing normal processing at the NBC prior to field office review.  As an interview may not be required, your constituent's application may be sent to a field office, other than your local office, for final adjudication. Once further action is taken, your constituent will receive notice at the address of record

Not sure why I qualify for the waiver, but I guess that explains why interview has not been scheduled. I did not submit 693 with my application so I expect to see an RFE sometime I guess...

How many May 2020 marriage-based filers still waiting?

We are still waiting.   Our status is "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" since May 10, 2022.  To my surprise, my stepdaughter who came over on a K2 visa with my wife had her case approved today without an interview.  That is through Case Tracker, I haven't seen the official papers yet.

Is it still stuck? It's been almost 6 months for you.. was wondering if you got that approved. When I contacted the local senator's office, they said my application is qualified for an interview waiver program and they are waiting for it to be transferred from NBC to an office for a final adjustment. However, it's been almost 3 months...

I got the RFE and it was from LA office (I'm in Chicago). They only asked for 693 so I'm assuming (hopefully) my case will be approved after I submit it.

8/13/2020 - 1st fingerprint

3/7/2022 - 2nd fingerprint

5/3/2022 - ready to schedule interview

7/30/2022 - 693 RFE

8/22/2022 - response received

8/31/2022 - card being produced

What a journey. Good luck to everyone still waiting!
