Do we need to file I944 -  Declaration of Self-Sufficiency AKA "Public charge" for K1 Consular processing?

My lawyer has charge me additional fees for this form and also asking me to add my foreign fiancee to add to my health insurance plan in USA.

Please help!

It is not needed for the K-1 visa.

 

It is needed for AOS, after you enter on the K-1 visa and marry.

10/14/17: Biometrics appointment notice received, 10/25/17: Biometrics

1/2/18: EAD + AP approved (no website update), 1/5/18: EAD + AP mailed, 1/8/18: EAD + AP approval notice hardcopies received, 1/10/18: EAD + AP received

9/5/18: Interview scheduled notice, 10/17/18: Interview

10/24/18: Green card produced notice, 10/25/18: Formal approval, 10/31/18: Green card received

K-1:

K-1

5/1/2017: Case received by Manila (1 week embassy transfer??? Lucky~)

7/13/2017: Interview: APPROVED!!!

7/19/2017: Visa in hand

8/15/2017: POE

As @geowrian states the I-944 is not required at the stage you are in currently. It is required for the AOS. Secondly, you don't need a lawyer to add your fiancé to a health plan from his/her employment. After marriage you/she can be added. 

 

You don't need a lawyer to be charging you for each and every documents. Especially those that you can do by yourself and if you get stuck just add a question to the VJ forum and someone will help you for FREE.
