Well It is looking like stage 2 of the easing of the lockdown will be commencing June 1st in England. I do hope that it's possible for the US embassy to reopen in London.

The charts seem to suggest that new cases, deaths and hospital occupation are falling even with more tests being conducted. I just hope as am I sure many do that R keeps bellow 1 for person to person transmission rate.

Is there dedicated topic relating to embassies that are reopening? I have seen June 4th thrown around a few times as that was a date the USCIS was intending to resume services, conditions permitting.

Stay safe, Matt

Hello,

There was a topic in regards of your question, but I cant find it. They were discussing the opening of embassies. The June 4th opening of USCIS offices is specifically for that, USCIS in person services. As far as for embassies, that will be up to the rules of the country where the embassy is located at. So I'm assuming if the country decides to lift the lockdown then the embassy will resume business with precautionary measures.

Absolutely. Well it was an immigration lawyer who suggested that if USCIS opens June 4th he believes that countries that have C19 in some form on control will always resume. I wonder how many staff members from those embassies flew home? so perhaps they would have to return if the embassy was to reopen. I got they DQ just after the announced closing the embassies.

All the best. Matt

Hey guys! Question for you all. :)

We have had a bit of a rough go with the NVC thus far, but they finally fixed their problem and we are getting ready to submit our documents. My question is this: has anyone here mailed their documents to the NVC or know of someone who has done so? Our lawyer seems to think it is the best idea, but I honestly cannot find any evidence that this is the case. I'm extremely worried if we don't use their new online system it will delay our case. I just want to know if anyone has had any success using that method.

My welcome email from NVC said DO NOT MAIL DOCUMENTS. They said everything had to be submitted online.

Everything I've read on NVC website says NOT to mail anything unless specifically requested to do so. I haven't fully submitted my documents, but I imagine things would go a lot more slowly if you mailed it all. I wouldn't even consider snail-mail with the extra time it would take. All the best!

Your lawyer seems to be giving bad advise - good that you do your own research. Too many bad lawyers out there that make people’s cases more difficult...

NVC doesn’t want to receive anything on paper unless specifically told. They’ll even start destroying mail in the near future without review. Source: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/national-visa-center/nvc-contact-information.html

It clearly states DO NOT mail any documents even if u have been told to do so in the past..YOUR attorney should be aware.. they will shred it

What I plan on doing is printing out the ds260 and highlighting the incorrect answers. We had a lawyer on our case and they put a couple wrong answers. I've counted about 4 so far. I called nvc and what they told me was to tell my wife to bring it up during the interview.

Wow, that's awful that your lawyer put in wrong answers on the DS260 for you. Did they just submit without allowing you to go in and review the form data first?

Almost anytime some posts about a lawyer on this site the lawyer is uniformed. I myself was calling about 20 lawyers all over the country to see about a lawyer with experience in international adoptions. No luck. All the lawyers in the USA are clueless about international adoption laws. None of them even knew what the Hauge convention was.

Yes, they submitted without even me making sure the answers were correct. Just to give you an example theres a question where it asks if spouse is immigrating to the US with you and they answered yes. Even common sense will tell you that's a no answer for an IR1/CR1 visa. I couldn't believe they didn't even confirm with me. They just decided on their own. I already got rid of them but they're the main reason my case has been taking so long. Oh well, should had known better I guess.

Hi,

My wife (USC) and I (UKC) are in a similar position and are waiting for operations to resume at the London US Embassy. It does look like things are slowly re-opening. For example, we mailed in our paper I-130 petition in March (we are going via the Direct Consular Filing route) and didn't receive a Notice of Receipt for weeks because USCIS staff did not have access to the Embassy Mail Room. Thankfully, we received an e-mail last week confirming that the Mail Room had reopened and that our petition had been received with an aim to have it adjudicated by July, if not sooner. Fingers crossed, it looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel...
