Hey guys!

I have a question regarding starting the whole NVC process. I saw in the email we received from them that we have a year until we need to log in and create an account (otherwise our application will be cancelled). I think we will wait a bit to do that (we're not in a hurry to move and the approval kinda took us by surprise) but apart from creating the account is there anything else that we have to do right now, for example pay the fees?

I don't want to miss any deadline. Thank you!

Your account was already created by NVC. Now you have to pay the fees. You will see them when you log in on CEAC. But since you want to wait, depending on how long you want to wait, you can pay one fee then wait, or pay both then wait. Then you can start uploading documents etc.  just make sure you always make contact with them or have any activity on your account before one year passes since your last interaction with NVC :)

@Skaur0609 its funny im on the same boat. Submitted everything on FEB 24th

Me too! I think there’s a few of us who submitted on 2/24. Well I resubmitted police record that’s all I was missing and still nothing 😑 Hopefully we’ll hear this week. I know we all have to wait anyways because of embassies  but getting DQed would give us a little piece of mind. Especially since others are getting news in just a week-2 weeks 😣🤞🏼🤞🏼

Question regarding work. Once you passed the interview and made it to the States, do you have to wait til you have the physical greencard in the mail? I tried to google but couldn’t find an conclusive answer whether or not work authorization would work?

thanks 🙌

My understanding is that your visa acts as a temporary green card, so you can start working straight away.

Can anyone else confirm?

they will update their website Monday with the submission date they're currently working on which should be a good indicator on the remaining wait time

Yup, upon entry the passport will be stamped with I-551 stamp which serves as greencard which allows you to work. However, one might have to wait for the SS card to arrive, I believe the SS number is needed so your employer can pay you, and your income tax

we've seen some out-of-the-line fast approvals lately, but generally NVC is working on submissions from early April: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/nvc-timeframes.html

An updated date will be provided at some time tomorrow - usually it moves by 5-7 days, let's see if that changes :)

You can get a letter from the SS Office which says you have applied, which is good enough to provide to an employer.

Hi Pals,

I’ve a question. Now we are at NVC Stages

I submitted my everything on April 12,2020 Except my employer #2 verification letter because HR was not reachable at that time for a week or so, until I email them and found out they were working from home and never responded to my voicemail in their office numbers. I do have my verification letter now. Is there an option to resubmit my letter now? Next question is do I really need to resubmit my verification letter now or do I just wait for them to review and see if I get RFE? If I do submit my second letter then do I need to wait longer for them to review ? I do make around 60k with my first employer and second employment is just my part time. However, I did wrote my employer name on 864EZ. I’m little concerned!
thanks if anyone can answer

Raj

Hi Raj,

My apologies I don't know the answer to your question and I just made it to the NVC stage. Can you please tell me about this verification letter that is needed from the employer please?

If you have current paystubs I would not worry about the employer verification letter.

I have a quick question. We were just sent to the NVC and are preparing documents. When it comes to the tax records, it says it is better to send transcripts, but because both of us live abroad, it would just be much easier to send copies of our accountant prepared tax returns. Has anyone done this and not had a problem? Is it THAT much better to send transcripts and I should wait the multiple weeks to have them mailed to my parents house? Any info would be helpful!

Paper transcripts are currently paused. You can create an online account on irs website and download them there.

NVC prefers transcripts, since they are the only proof that taxes have been filed. It's possible to submit 1040 instead, but all sources of income need to be supported (by w2, 1099 and such) in that case. I also imagine that this only works for 2019 taxes, for 2018 taxes the transcript should be available by now so it should really be used.

The problem is I don't have a US based cell phone (we both live abroad), so I don't think it is possible to create an online account.

Do u have someone in the US that will take a txt message code from the irs to access your account?
