Hello, we got an email from NVC today on May  21 and they say they want my police certificate from a country I stayed for 5 months.

we called NVC and made sure -  Under 6 months : no need.

Agent told us to put a memo like “as agreed with an agent over the phone, we won’t need the certificate as the stay was under 6 months”.

Our review was very fast. We submitted our last doc on April 24. So it was within a month to check ours.

Anyway we have to wait again.

Hey Guys

Not sure, this may sound stupid but need to confirm.

The tax returns and W2's we uploaded were already available to us in PDF format so we directly uploaded them. Are we supposed to print, scan and only then upload them as well?

You would only need to print and scan documents that either required a signature or were not already on your computer in PDF format. Since those documents are already PDFs you should be fine!

Hi all

We just got accepted in the NVC stage (20th May).

As a fairly new to this process, it is not clear to me regarding the police certificates, do we need to provide from each single country that we resided for more than 6 months, including US?

thanks in advance!

You only need to provide certificates for countries where you resided for 12 months or more over the age of 16. The 6 months part you're referring to applies to your country of nationality and your current country of residence. If you currently live in your country of nationality you'd just need a certificate from there and then anywhere you lived for over a year.

See more on this page:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-7-collect-civil-documents.html

That page states that present and former residents of the US don't need to submit US police certificates.

We submitted all our documents on April 28th, cant believe what I'm seeing with some April filers are getting DQs before older filers. Madness!

Regarding the W2s, is this a recent trend and does anyone know in which cases they seem to be requested? I applied with  co-sponsor bc I am not currently working (used my assests as proof) and also the co-sponsors 3 years of transcripts (my brother- married filing jointly for taxes). Should I expect NVC to request my co-sponsors W2s because of the joint filings? This is bizarre bc IRS transcripts already show the income breakdown between the primary and secondary filers (i.e. the spouse when filing jointly). So just looking through the IRS transcripts gives you the info on the W2.

Anyone have a co-sponsor, submitted 3 years of IRS transcripts, and still got an RFE for W2s for the co-sponsor? Good luck everyone waiting on DQs
