Sorry guys, have so many questions but bear with me.  I read up on the instructions and you're right, I should be completing the I-864EZ which I have already started working on.

1. Is that the I-864EZ form that that gets completed first on the NVC website or the DS-260?

2. On the I-864EZ , I'm being asked for a USCIS number. I filed my I-130 online (first time using the service) and looked at the profile page per the instructions but did not see one. Should i have one?

3. I will be requesting for the IRS to send me transcripts of my tax returns so I can upload with the I-864EZ form.  I am yet to file my 2019 tax return since we have a deadline of July 15 this year. Would it be okay to just provide transcripts of my 2016 through  2018  tax returns to meet the income requirement ?

1. the two are in different categories. The DS-260 is the beneficiaries visa application and the first thing to fill under the civil documents stream in order to reach document upload stage. The I-864 needs to be filled out, printed, signed, scanned, and uploaded under the AOS stream for the sponsor.

2. Do you mean the A-Number or USCIS account number? The first only applies if the petitioner is a non Citizen (A-number is the alien number for immigrants). Of you are asking about the USCIS account number - don't worry about it, just leave it blank. I believe this number is a thing from the past.

3. The IRS doesn't currently provide paper transcripts but you can easily create an online account and download your transcripts there. Once logged in, choose "immigration" as purpose and download the most recent tax year "return transcript". Upload this with the matching w2 or 1099 and you're good to go. NVC prefers transcripts over returns, since returns are no proof that you actually filed. With the online option the transcript are easily obtainable. Only the most recent year (in your case 2018) is required at NVC stage.

Got it. Thank you for continuing to answer my questions.

1. Can both the DS-260 and I-865 be filed simultaneously under the approriate petitioner/beneficiary visa application?

2. Okay. Thank you.

3. I thought once I have the IRS transcript I don't need to include the w-2 or 1099? I don't mind doing this, just clarifying.

1. Yes, you can work on both streams parallel and click the submit button whenever you are ready. Your case gets in line for review once all three buckets (financial, DS-260, civil documents) have been submitted to NVC.

3. That is theoretically correct, however we have seen RFE's for W2 for folks that submitted transcript recently so it doesn't hurt to upload it under additional documents just in case :)

1) It doesn't matter the order. If you paid both fees; you can work on them concurrently. In our case, I had my husband (intending immigrant) fill out DS-260 and then I (sponsor) did my AOS doc for him. Sharing the workload ;) Submit whenever documents are ready.

3) Yes, latest tax returns filed, so 2018 is what is required. Past three years can be submitted as well (2016 - 2018)

Hi There

We are filing a i-864 and are unable to bring the size below the suggested 2MB. We tried reducing the quality to 150 DPI and also used compression tools available but it has not helped. While the form after filled is only around 600 KB, when we print, sign and re-scan it, it is around 2.5 MB.

One way around is that we keep the other pages as it is and just add the signed page as scan(Split and Merge). But the PDF then remains editable., which I think isn't right to do.

Any suggestions? Kindly help.

I used an app called Genius Scan. After scanning them to one pdf file I then opened it with that app and saved it again to pdf with that app it worked for me.

We used  adobe acrobat to try to compress it and always was higher than 2MB. if you compress It several time with and app you may lose the resolution of the documents.

If you are in the US, you can take it to  Fedex and they can scan it for you and make it the size that is needed and save it in your pen drive. It worked for us.

Is not recommended to use online services. That’s very sensitive information that you are putting in that form.

ps. This was our experience. If someone else have another idea. Help him.

Same - scanner apps take photo like scans, I went to Staples and scanned it with a real printer and even at 300dpi all pages came out at below 1mb plus the quality was better :)

Hi All,

I have paid my NVC fees but not uploaded any documentation yet. I requested expedite processing and NVC approved and said that my local embassy (Abu Dhabi) would contact me. Should I continue to upload documents to the NVC system or is this step irrelevant now? Thanks.

Did they say "conditional approval" after document approval? If not, no - your case is now with the embassy and they'll reach out.

May I ask the reason for expedite if it's not too personal? We have ABD too :)

This is the wording of the email below, i'm not sure if this is conditionally or unconditionally..?

"The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in ABU DHABI, UAE approved your request for expedited processing of your immigrant visa application. The National Visa Center sent your immigrant visa application to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in ABU DHABI, UAE for their action. The Embassy/Consulate General will contact you soon to schedule a visa interview."

Of course, my wife is in the USA and deployed with the military, so away from the family home, pets etc.

It's unconditional and if you pay attention to the details (sent to Embassy) your case has already left NVC :)

Thank you!
